Mr. Morris Dean Otten He was born in Terry Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania, the seventh child in a family of ten brothers and sisters. A graduate of Wyaluaing High School, Class of ’56, he entered the U. S. Army for a tour of duty which included a two-year “hitch” in France. After Uncle Sam’s obligations were completed, he enrolled at Penn State University, graduating in May of 1963, majoring in Vocational Agriculture. In July of ’63 he was employed as the Vo-Ag instructor at Wyaluaing Valley. On July 9, 1966, his bachelorhood ended when he married the former Alice Talada, whom he met while she was a student teacher. In July 1970, a son Thaddeua Dean was born, followed by a daughter Maria Alice in November 1971, completing the family. His interests are many—from carpentary to gardening. Currently he is the supervisor of the On-the-Job work program at W.V.H.S. He is a man of restless energy with a yen to travel—yet is conservative, and charismatic. He is a man dedicated to career, church, and family. We, the Vallian staff of ’83, are pleased to dedicate this volume to Morris Dean Otten. 9
