. . . Friend, Mr. Gene Salsman A man—a man of many personalities and superstitutions. He thirsts for victory like a George Steinbrenner. He posses the managerial skills of a Billy Martin and a Tommy Lasorda, combined with the popularity and poise of Casey Stengel. A native son of Wyalusing, graduate of the class of ’58, he attended Mansfield State College from 1958-1963. In his junior year of college, he signed a contract to play professional baseball with the New York Mets. While assigned to the Mets in Auburn, New York, in 1962, the fate of cupid's arrow struck from the bow of the former Lillian Dcyo of that city and on May 28, 1962, became his bride. . In 1963, he returned to Wyalusing to persue his career as a teacher and coach. He is the father of three children: Susan Lynn, 17; Todd Eugene, 15; and Carla Jean, 6. The Vallian staff proudly dedicates this 1981 edition to our science teacher, coach, and friend . . . Mr. Gene Salsman. 16
