As you leaf through these pages, there will be memories of: Hard practices, sweat, and sacrifices! the long nights spent studying for those tests and the disappointment of finding out your grade the next dayi the buzzing of the typewriters, the guilty look on your face when you get caught looking at the keys, and the 26 seconds it takes to correct just one mistake! having to stay in the smoke-filled room because someone's main dish overflowed onto the stove, and the frustration of pulling out the same seam for the twentieth timei having to redo your shop project because you were off one-fourth of an inch and the time you missed the nail, but got your thumb) and having planted those crops, fertilizing, and harvesting them, and going on those field trips. We have had many good times here and also some bad, but as we pull this dusty yearbook from the shelf we'll be able to recall many of those memories at WVHS. The VALLIAN staff would like to congratulate the seniors and wish them 2 much success in all their endeavors. As for the underclassmen, may you make your remaining years at WVHS the best. Students Exchange I would like to thank all the students, teachers, and other personnel of WVHS who made my stay very enjoyable. The best thing I will remember is that I made a lot of friends here. Again thanks. Casper Vaandrager Exchange Student Netherlands Maria Angela Fonseca I would not go back to my country without expressing to you my feelings. It's funny how I suddenly came to a different place from where I had always lived, around different people! and I have learned to love it so much. I think it is a blessing to have a chance to come to a different country and to be able to learn another language and different customs. Another very important thing to me is to be able to bring to you some culture about my country. I hope that from everything that I have tried to bring to you. some things will remain. Everyone of you taught me a lot of things and helped me to succeed in this exciting exchange program. Maybe one day I can meet one of you in Brazil, as an exchange student or just visiting-, but anyway, if it happens (and I hope it does) you already have a home and a lot of love waiting for you! Thank you. Maria Angela Fonseca Casper Vaandrager Dedication. . . 1980 Vitality, style, poise, and fashionable can best describe her. Self-confidence and energy radiates from her as she works. She has been a part of this Wyalusing High School since 1955. She entered the classroom as a teacher of English and French and later assumed the role of Home School Visitor in 1964. She married Charles Sturdevant. better known as Ned” to many. May 8,1944. She is the mother of two girls. Carol and Joann and one son Steven, currently in the U.S. Navy. She also is very proud of her two grandchildren. The 1980 Vallian staff is honored to dedicate this edition to our Home School Visitor” Mrs. Phyllis Sturdevant.. 4 . . . In agriculture, industry, education, medicine, law, transportation, and on and on. No country can match America's record in religious freedom, civil freedom, human rights, the importance and dignity of the individual. We do have our differences. But when we join together in times of crisis, our strength is awesome. Among all the world's nations, America still stands out front. You're an American. You're the finest ever— and don't you ever, ever forget it. Reprinted with the permission of United Technologies. Hartford. CT. ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ In The Beginning B. Armstrong L. Godshall T. Clapper N. The Homecoming festivities were dedicated to Mr. Jim Eaton, our friend and teacher, and son John. The day started with a parade sponsored by the Student Faculty association. The theme for the parade was based on T.V. shows. The Homecoming game with Troy was won by the Rams 14-0. The Rams mascot was unveiled during the pre-game ceremony. The echoes of his voice can be heard, The warmth of his friendship can still be felt. We were fortunate to have shared in his life. And even now as this man and his son Walk in the Kingdom of God. We are reminded of his acts of kindness. He was our friend, teacher, and colleague) He gave so much and asked for so little.
