Wyalusing Valley High School Wyalusing, Pa. Editor: Advisor: ane Squier Mr. Yadlosky Foreword In this year of high unemployment, high inflation, and severe energy shortage, the nation has undergone many changes We of the VALLIAN staff have also suffered from the economic problems which plague us all. Yes, price increase and loss of income has taken its toll on the VALLIAN. Increased publication costs and supplies have forced us to reduce our monetary thermostats. Although the 1977 VALLIAN is not as large in volume as past editions it still, and always will, contain those memories past and present. We have labored hard, under a drastically reduced budget, to produce the best with what revenue we had to work with. Student and Club apathy has rendered the yearbook close to extinction. To those who have supported us, we say Thank You G to those that didn't we say Help ! The good ship VALLIAN is sinking! Board Of Education Charles Lacey James McMahon Standing Robert Dibble—Secretary' Fra nit Kinney John Culver Wendall Wilson--Vice President Absent from photo—Adrian Fiske Superintendent: Mr. Clair Goodman Congratualtions on having reached this important milestone in your life. The educational, cultural, and social experiences of your past twelve years will remain a significant component of your person for the rest of your life. I trust that you have taken full advantage of the many opportunities provided for you. If so, there will be unlimited opportunities for you to experience a very rich and full life as a citizen contributing positively to our society. I sincerely wish each member of die Class of 1977 a very satisfying future. May all your dreams come true and may you reach all the goals you have set for yourself. Again, congratulations and good luck in all your future endeavors. 4 Principal Mr. Kenneth S. Williams To the Class of 1977: You have, at last, come to that period of your life when it will be necessary to apply your learnings to real life situations. Your real education is just beginning. Life is, at best, a struggle against adversity with the real triumph, learning how to deal with it. I wish you success in meeting your challenges. Kenneth S. Williams Assistant Principal Mr. Warner Stark I would like to extend my congratulations to the class of 77 for your completion of this phase of your education and to wish you health and prosperity in the future. W. Stark 5 6 Mr. Kenneth A. Millard The 1977 VALLIAN staff wishes to dedicate this edition to a big, big man. He was bom, Kenneth Arthur Millard, April, 1925, near Rush, Pennsylvania. In 1943 he graduated from Laceyville High School and then joined Uncle Sam at the zenith of World War II, having served three months in a German prisoner of war camp. In 1946 he entered Mansfield State College and received his Bachelor of Science degree--class of 1950. Midway through his undergraduate career, he married Sara Morse on New Year's Day, 1948. From 1950-53 he taught junior high science in Henderson, Nevada. In '53 he returned to Pennsy lvania to reside at his present New Albany home while employed with the G.T.E. Sylvania Co. In 1956 he entered the classroom at W.V.H.S. and to date has taught a variety of subjects from Biology to an elective class in aviation. In the past two decades, he has completed graduate work at Bucknell, Penn State, and Cornell Universities. An avid flyer, he received his private pilot's license in 1971 and presently holds an advanced Ground Instructor rating in aviation. He is the father of five children—Marcella, Wayne, Victor, Lois, and Wesley. He is also especially proud of his ten grandchildren. To a man dedicated to education, religion, hard work, and love for his students and fellowman, the VALLIAN staff proudly dedicates this 1977 edition to the ,?big man in Room twenty on$—Mr. Ken Millard. 7 Foreign Exchange Student It has been a great experience for me to come to Wyalusing Valley High School as an exchange student. This has been an interesting, different and a very memorable school year. A new experience for me has been all the extra curricular activities in the school. One of the best things is to have been a member of the Senior Band. I would like to thank my teachers, the school administration and the students at W.V. H. S. for making this a very enjoyable year. I would also like to thank Laceyville Rotary Club and my host families for making it all possible. Best of luck to the Class of '77.
