As life's tower grows, no matter to what side it leans, it is the result of all your actions. As you mark your name on the cornerstone thinking back when the past was the present and memories were being made, this yearbook will serve as an everlasting guide. Putting forth the best effort, the yearbook staff of 1970 piece together times that might be otherwise forgotten. Let the VALLIAN bring these remembrances forward every time students glance through the pages. She is head of the Business Department, NHS advisor, FOE advisor, and is treasurer of the central account of the school's activities accounts. We, the Vallian Staff of 1970, wish to express our gratitude and heart-felt appreciation by dedicating this, the portrait of our high school life, to Mrs. Jean Reinhart. 5 The decade of the sixties featured man amongst the stars. That which was impossible before becomes the possible for the seventies. May the Class of 1970 be added force applied to the adult world whereby all that is good comes into being and all that which is bad comes to its downfall. 6 KENNETH S. It has given me a better understanding of how another part of our world lives, works, and plays. I wish to thank Wyalusing Valley High School and the Laceyville Rotary Club for giving me this opportunity to enrich my education and to tell other people about our way of life. Valarie Beebe yi. J. c5. Cjxchanye (Student My first reaction when I heard my summer of '69 was to be spent in Eskisehir, Turkey was, I can't believe it!” Today it still seems like a dream to me. But when I read the letters ftom my second family and recall the memories of those ten weeks, I know I have had a rewarding experience which I will never forget. I also realize that I have many people to thank for that wonderful summer. A few among many who I deeply thank are the area chapter of A.F.S., the Turkish chapter in Istanbul, and of course bo fit of my families. Thank you. You have given me an experience which has influenced my life so greatly. 45 Kathy R. Rick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Caswell of Riverside Drive, Wyalusing, has been drum major of the Rams band for two years, and in that time he has led the group in numerous appearances and parades including a memorable one at the 1968 Miss America pageant in Atlantic City. His appearance has added much to the half-time activities at the Rams football games. In addition to being drum major, Rick is also a member of the trumpet section of the Rams band when in concert season. As part of the training for his position, Rick attended the Oglebay Drum Major Institute at Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia. In competition there Rick placed first in his class. 90 The Rams Marching Band this year added an innovation to its already busy schedule - a concert tour in the spring. For the past several years the band has been enjoying an ever-growing popularity both at home and on the road. With appearances in the Thanksgiving Day Parade in Philadelphia, the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City, and the State Laurel Festival the band has spread the name of the school throughout Eastern Pennsylvania. This spring the band departed from its tradition of appearing as a marching unit and scheduled a concert tour that would take the group through Pennsylvania, Maryland and the District of Columbia. Highlight of the tour was a two day stay in the nation's Capitol and an extensive tour of that city's many sights. The band traveled via charter bus and performed concerts enroute to Washington. While in the nation's Capitol the band was guest of the Laurel, Maryland Senior Band, living with the Laurel band members. Wyalusing hosted the Laurel band during its trip to Pennsylvania during the Thanksgiving vacation. While in Laurel our band combined with the Laurel band for a joint concert. LTOR: D. Beebe, D. Bluhm, P. Wodzinski, D. Whipple, C. Gamble, W. Tinna, D. Stahl. 91 92 Senior members of the Wyalusing marching Rams band have devoted much time and energy to the contributions of the Rams success. We are sure that the Rams fans will miss hearing the enjoyable music from the talented senior members. L. TO R. - ROW 1: C. Gamble, T. Roof, D. Potter, I. Harris, L. Salsman, D. Beebe. ROW 2: C.
