KARL PETERSON Left to Right: Michael; Kathy; Barbara; Karl; Melissa; Becky; Kevin; Keith The 1968 VALLIAN finds it hard to express the vast appreciation we have for Dr. Karl R. Peterson and his family. This fine citizen has given generously of his time to benefit his patients, school, and community. Despite his busy schedule, he finds time to take an active interest in sports, serving as our team's physician and chief counselor. “Doc Pete” was very instrumental in obtaining our score board for our football field. To such a respected man, fine father, and trusted friend, the class of '68 is proud to dedicate our yearbook. 5 SCHOOL BOARD Mr. John Culver, President; Mr. Adrian Fisk; Mr. William Baker, Secretary; Mr. Milton Morse; Mr. Tom Champluvier; Mr. Neil Vield-house; Mrs. Wilma Jennings, Mr. Wendell Wilson Mr. Kenneth S. On the count of three we rush the kitchen and try to re-capture it from the spaghetti. Quick! Out the back way; they’ll never catch us. They're in a hurry to get to the cafeteria. Oh come on, cheer up. So what if your dentures did come out while you were playing the sax! Oh dam! We made a wrong turn somewhere! Come out of there; you've got to take this lesson. What do you mean you’re all going on strike? 80 Penn State Band Day 81 In the Wyalusing Valley On the Susquehanna shore, Stands our noble Alma Mater; Sing its praises ever-more. May thy colors wave forever, As the coming years unfold; Hail to thee, Wyalusing High Hail to the green and the gold. 82 83 We're busting you to water-boy; you're through! 84 This, my year in Wyalusing, has been a great experience for me. Every day since July, when I came, has been great to me. I have gained lots of experience, knowledge, and have learned to know myself much better. The American school system with all extra-curricular activities was something new for me. I enjoyed them very much. It would be nice if I could take some with me back to Sweden. I send all my warmest thanks to the students and teachers of WVHS, whose friendship I deeply appreciate. I also want to thank all my host families without whom I couldn’t have been here and the people of the communities whose kindness I have cherished. Last, but not least, I want to thank the Laceyville Rotary Club, most responsible for this year. I will never forget you. 1 have seen that there are only very small differences between the Swedish and American people. We, the coming generation must work for tomorrow. For to live in a world of peace and understanding between all nations of the world is our constant hope. Now, Class of ’68, when we all go our different ways, 1 wish that life for everyone turns out great. 85 Per Farnqvist Exchange Student from Sweden Let's have a Dime Dance - Bake Sale FRENCH CLUB Left to Right: ROW 1: N. As all Philadelphia TV stations carried the parade, the Rams” were on camera for almost five minutes. Despite the drizzle, over half a million people lined the parade route to watch our RAMS MARCHING BAND. Photo by John Williams Class of 1961 116 PSU TRIP Living up to its good name, Rams” Marching Band took part in the half time at Penn State University's football game with UCLA. We are so proud of Iky” and are hoping that this will not be the only Champion from Wyalusing. BASKETBALL 1967-68 As in every sport, there is much to be gained by the participating and cooperating of a team. Our Rams basketball team gained much experience this year, and the team is looking forward to the coming year for greater success. BASEBALL 1967-68 The Rams baseball team ended its 1967-68 season with a 7-7 record. The Rams started the season with its first game against Northeast, who was a strong team that season. Northeast won 9-6. The next game was staged at the town of Sayre with the Rams losing the game 3-1. However, when the next game rolled around, which was at SRU, the Rams took it with a 13-2 score. And also the Rams took the next game with Canton--score 11-5. 130 FOOTBALL 1967-68 This year we saw the Rams football team take 5 wins out of 9 games. Athens, who was considered a rough team this year, bowed to us with a 13-12 loss. This game was considered the best game’’ of the season for us. Sayre, who did a fine job this year, defeated the Rams 35-7. Although we lost the game, it did have a highlight. The Rams (the only team in the NTL) received credit for the only running play scored against unbeaten Sayre this season. There’s always room for improvement in anything one does. So next year, we’ll get a crack at it again.” SCHEDULE Sept. 9 Lake Lehman at Wyalusing Won Sept. 15 Wyalusing at Sayre Lost Sept. 23 Wyalusing at Canton Won Sept. 30 Athens at Wyalusing Won Oct. 7 North Penn at Wyalusing Won Oct. 14 Troy at Wyalusing (Homecoming) Won Oct. 21 Wyalusing at Towanda Lost Oct. 28 Wyalusing at Wellsboro Lost Nov. 4 Wyalusing at Lackawanna Trail Lost WRESTLING 1967-68 This year the Rams wrestling team had a 13-1 record. Proving itself quite well, and also sharing the NTL Championship with the Sayre Redskins, the Rams drew good crowds of people to the matches; whether they were home or away, the fans were there to cheer them on. Coached by Karl Schnure and Clair Goodman, these boys have proved to people all over, be it Christmas tournaments or sectional tournaments, good wrestlers can be found in small towns. This year at the sectional tournaments held at Towanda, Wyalusing advanced three champions. The boys turned in a fine season. CONGRATULATIONS!
