For a week or two they were very conscious of their how young the freshmen seemed and even the sophomores... Then suddenly things to be done and time was getting short. There were the exciting plans to be made for choosing announcements, deciding who should be speaker for gradu- ation, and where the class would spend their day traditionally known as Senior Skip Day. Homecoming was upon them soon and mem bers of the class were placed at the head of the important committees, and they felt more responsible than ever before for a successful homecoming celebration. Seniors were in positions of leadership in all of the activities of the school. Batteries of tests, including the Kuder vocational preference test, were administered to the seniors to help them make the very important decisions about further education and preparation fdr vocations. As juniors the class had worked exceptionally well and had amassed enough money in their treasury to free them of the need for money-making activities in their senior year. From these funds the class was able to purchase a gift for the school. Later at Christmas time they again did an excellent job of the student body Christmas dinner. the freshman talent assembly gave everyone an opportunity to perform a useful service to the class. Not everyone could appear on stage, but behind the scenes there was some job for almost everyone. Other students wishing to rim for an office may do so by presenting a petition signed by fifty student body members All nominees give acceptance and campaign speeches in a special assembly. The week following is filled with high-spirited campaigns. The halls are filled with clever and colorful posters which advertise the qualifications of each candidate. This is the student governing body composed of the student body officers, elected room representatives, and the presidents of the organizations within the school. Working with the administration, student government directs the activities of the student body and its organizations. This year the Student Council undertook drives to collect food and clothing for the families of students whose homes had burned and also a clothing drive for an emergency area in Tennessee. Funds from the annual calendar drive, conducted jointly by the Booster Club and Student Council, went toward the purchase of a new public address system for the school. It is aimed to teach each girl the value of physical endeavor. The activities of the group got under way early with a get-acquainted dinner, at which the activities of the organization were explained. The next social activity was a slumber party enjoyed by eighty girls, and there was very little slumber. At the State G. A.A. Conference at McMinnville, Paula Sundsten was l elected state president and Norma Wright, district representative. PAULA SUNDSTEN Throughout the year girls earn points by bowling, swimming, hiking, G.A.A, State President skating, skiing, horseback riding, and playing intramurals. The intramural program included both indoor and outdoor sports, with contests in fieldball, volley tennis, volleyball, basketball, tennis, softball, and archery. To finance the organization's projects, the girls sold tulip and daffodil bulbs and staged a car wash.
