WI TEH . Also in the Christmas season the students of Wy'east were entertained by the band and choruses, directed by Miss Gay Simons. The girls glee sang Christmas Carols and three selections from the Messiah. The mixed glee sang Birthday of a King with an inspiring Nativity scene. Dr. Arthur M. Collins spoke on the lives and customs of the Japanese people in a general assembly. He also showed some slides of their daily lives. Closely following on the Field of events was the annual Senior winter formal, the Coconut Grove. Decorated with swaying palm trees and a cozy grass shack. lt was deemed a big success by all who attended. Wy'east hosted the Basketball Jamboree which was held in the gym. At our games a colorful sight was the members of the Pep Club doing an active little skit to the tune of the Bleacher Boogie. Before a game we had pep assemblies, they often consisted of a pep talk, a skit and lots of good cheerleading and yells. After our games we had dances for the students. We danced to the juke box in the cafeteria. Our faculty played an interesting game of basketball. Or was it really basketball? Our distinguished teachers made quite a sight on the basketball floor. The F.F.A. Parent-Son Banquet was held in February, and one hundred seventy-three persons attended. Several awards were presented at this time. The l:.H.A. served and decorated for the dinner.
