Chorus sings selections from the Messiah. Swing Your Pcrrdners MUSIC The Wy'east Music Department, under the direction of Miss Gay Simons, was very active this year. A Christmas Cantata was presented for the public's enjoyment during the month of December. ln the spring a Dude Ranch Operetta Meet Ari- zona was given in good o1d western style. A double cast featured Judy Moen, Dale Mortenson, Myris Judd and Larry Dinsmoor portraying the main characters in the plot. A Benefit Band Concert was in the spotlight April 2. lt was sponsored by the P.T.A. and all proceeds went towards new band uniforms. Pastel formals accented the Spring Concert pre- sented in May. We were all proud to say, That's our band play- ing when they struck up a tune at the games. We would like to congratulate Miss Simons, the band and choruses on their excellent performances for the public and the school. Combined Bcmds

DRAMA Joseph Kesselring's Arsenic and Old Lace , was a smashing hit when the Wy'east Student Body pre- sented it to the public on November l9th and 20th. The melodrama about the two sweet old ladies who, for a hobby, relieved people of the burdens of this world with a little arsenic, has been a constant pleasure to all ob- servers. Shocked, is a mild word for the impact on the younger generation when it is discovered that their aunts, both old maids, have already put 12 men in blissful rest. As the play progresses, Jonathan Brewster and Dr. Einstein, who are hiding from the law, come home and add another corpse to the steadily growing collection in the cellar. Anne Carr and Alice Absten had the leading roles as the two maids. Jack Donaldson, as Mortimer Brew- ster: Eugene Bol es, as Teddy Brewster: and Dan Steward, as Dr. Einstein, all gave outstanding per- tormances. The Senior class play Time Out for Ginger, was presented on April 29th and 30th. Alice Absten had the title role as Ginger with Mary Jo Smullin and Jack Donald- son in lead roles. Good-by Aunties. Well, I ccm't better my record now, but neither can you--at least I have that satisfaction. The score stands even, twelve to twelve. .JN Doctor-Hto my dear dead brother To the West! There's your danger! There's your enemy! Japan! 1
