1 I 5111211 13 . Once again this year the ypcal groups of Wy'east High School opened the Spring season by presenting an Operetta entitled Meet Arizona . The story was about a lost will and took place on a dude ranch. The cast consisted of both mixed chorus and girls glee. Come One! Come All! Were the cries of the F.H.A. and the F.F.A. calling everyone to the annual barn dance which was held in the Ag shop. The queen and king were Iola Painter and Larry Moore who reigned over another successful and well remembered dance. The band of Carl Kaments' was heard by all those who attended the L.etterman's Dance. It was held at the Country Club the last Saturday in March. The hall was decorated in bright blue and gold streamers with gold eagles and sketches of sport players on the walls and tables. A buffet dinner was held for the dancers. Senior Senator Wayne Morse presented the student bodies of Hood Hiver, Cascade Locks, Mosier, and Wy'east a speech concerning Future Problems of Schools. The session was closed by questions from the students. Annually held is the Career Day which is sponsored by the Sophomore English classes. Nora Hounsel and Dale Mortenson were the co-chairmen under the leadership of Miss Pat Pendergast, sophomore Eng- lish teacher. Many local and out of town speakers were presented to us with information and guidance on the field of work in which they represented. Waltzes, Spirituals, Mambos, Marches, and Overtures were played by the beginning and advanced band at a Benefit Band Concert, Saturday April 2, 1955, under the direction of Miss Gay Simmons. All pro- ceeds went into the buying of new uniforms for the incoming students of next year. Miss Hazel Kusachi and Mr. Robert Brigham with the cooperation of their physical education classes presented their skill in tennis, dancing, basketball, and volleyball to the parents of Wv'east HighSchool Students. During the program the band entertained by playing two special numbers. The purpose of this program was to show and give the parents a better understanding of the classes. Busy cast from Meet Arizonia.

Chorus sings selections from the Messiah. Swing Your Pcrrdners MUSIC The Wy'east Music Department, under the direction of Miss Gay Simons, was very active this year. A Christmas Cantata was presented for the public's enjoyment during the month of December. ln the spring a Dude Ranch Operetta Meet Ari- zona was given in good o1d western style. A double cast featured Judy Moen, Dale Mortenson, Myris Judd and Larry Dinsmoor portraying the main characters in the plot. A Benefit Band Concert was in the spotlight April 2. lt was sponsored by the P.T.A. and all proceeds went towards new band uniforms. Pastel formals accented the Spring Concert pre- sented in May. We were all proud to say, That's our band play- ing when they struck up a tune at the games. We would like to congratulate Miss Simons, the band and choruses on their excellent performances for the public and the school. Combined Bcmds
