This fall season saw the Wurzburg C-olf Team finally reach Varsity level. We had the necessary five starting positions filled by golfers Bob Martinez, Phil Roberts, Buddy Cooper, Steve Miller, and Mike Cavitt. Our sixth man was Rich Spiese who played in most of the tournaments, too. Also for the first time under Coach Niccol, we had a female golfer on the varsity, Pam Slettebo. Although it was only her first time playing golf, Pam just mis- sed going to the finals by a few strokes. Needless to say, high hopes for Pam for next season and also for more females participation to represent Wurzburg High School. Our season got off to a good start beating Bonn but after that we were defeated by stronger teams. Our golfers participated against teams from Frankfurt, Karlsruhe, Bonn, Berlin, and Mannheim. Also, we played for two days in the Northern Class B Regional Tourna- ment, held this year in Berlin. This is the way to Coach! Golf FIRST ROW: Mike Cavitt, Coach Niccol, Bob Martinez. Human Relations Assembl The john Gray Experience was felt in an all-school assembly in the autumn. Dr. Gray, a Black professor from Kent State University, led a free-wheeling discussion concer- ning human relations and generated a lot of enthusiasm. Let's hope it was a lesson well-learned! Border Field Trip The Vll Corps provided an oppor- tunity for two groups of Wiirzburg students to visit the border between the German Federal Republic and the German Democratic Republic and witness the fortifications that exist there.
