1958- 59 This year we were all ready to begin the journey with our education. With only two years left we were working even harder than before. This year with only 99 juniors, we went forward to accomplish all. This year we were proud to present our Junior Class Play, There Goes the Bride, which was a great success. We were proud to have Phyliss Conley elected for football queen. We presented the sen- iors with a prom. Laura Reeves was our prom queen. Mrs. Helen Burkhart and Mrs. Joyce Ward were our sponsors. We selected officers: Jimmy Gumbert, president: Larry Floyd, vice president; Connie Fraley, secretary; Janice McKenzie, reporter. 1959- 60 At last we had reached the goal we had been striving for. This year with only 80 seniors we were proud of the title that had been bestowed upon us, Seniors. One of the most exciting moments in our senior year was the day we received our class rings. We presented our Senior Play, No Boys Allowed. This year we had Judy Stephens elected for Chapter Sweetheart. We were proud to have Mrs. Thelma Justice and Charles Banks as our sponsors, and we were equally proud to have as our representatives for the senior class: Tommy Holt, president; Jerald Johnson, vice president; Connie Fraley, secretary; Janice McKen- zie, treasurer; Sue Barker, reporter. Soon we will be graduating and taking our places in the world. We have had many happy moments that we can look back on at Wurtland High School. The doors are now closing at Wurtland High School for the class of 1960. We could not have accomplished this without the guidance and devotion that we have received from our parents and teachers. We will look not into the past, but to the future, hoping it brings as much happiness as we have had at Wurtland High School. We will face the future with a forward look and journey down through life. Judy Stephens

Class Mistory OUR HOPES TO SUCCEED The Senior Class of 1960 have at last reached their goal. Four years ago with doors open wide we entered not knowing what was ahead of us. We were scared and shy. By working together we ob- tained greater confidence in ourselves. 1956-57 We entered Wurtland High School as freshmen hoping to captivate a higher and better education. Four years ago, one hundred and thirty-three freshmen entered with a goal of becoming seniors in the future. In that year we all made new friends and became more acquainted. Our first year was a happy one. Most of us wanted to go on and find more and greater happiness at Wurtland High. Our freshman year we were divided into three groups. Our sponsors were Mrs. Thelma Hicks, Mr. Robert Haight and Mr. Sylvestor Ball. We elected our class officers: Jerald Johnson, president; Gary Cremeans, vice president; Billy Christian, secretary. 1957-58 The paths of higher education were awaiting us as we re- turned in September as sophomores. This year we were all more accustomed to the new and trying ways in cultivating our education. We now felt more a part of Wurtland and were progressing onward with our education. This year we had as our sponsors, Mr. Paul Smith, Jerry Arrington, and Mrs. Georgia May. Our representatives were Jerald John- son, president; Jimmy Gumbert, vice president; Diana Sex- ton, secretary.
