Class History 1953-1954 - After accomplishing eight years of elementary school 135 ambitious Freshmen entered the door to higher education. We were divided into three sections. Our officers were: Beth Bowling, President; Nora Bays, Vice President; Janet Warnock, Secretary; Carolyn Stephens, Treasurer. Our sponsors were: Mrs. Gute, Mrs. Liles, and Mr. Haight. 1954-1955 - We returned the following year as a Sophomore class with 105 members. Frenda Skaggs and Donald Wellman were elected Carnival King and Queen. Our officers for that year were: Ronald Virgin, President; Donald Wellman, Vice President; Gloria Kitchen, Secretary; Tommy Baum- gardner, Treasurer. Our sponsors were: Mrs. Frances Reed, and Mr. Danny Stafford. 1956-1957 - We entered the halls of W.H.S. the following fall with a class of 96 members. We had gained much more confidence in obtaining the goal we were striving for. We were honored with the election of Loretta Blythe as Carnival Queen. Our officers were: Ronald Virgin, President; Ronald Griffith, Vice President; Bob Bradford, Secretary; Loretta Blythe, Treasurer. Our sponsors were: Mrs. Reed, and Mrs. Clark. This year we had a new principal: Mr. Stanley Ramey. Our Junior Play, Sun bonnet Jane of Sycamore Lane, was a tremendous success. 1957-1958 - Only 80 of us enrolled for our final year at W.H.S. Our class officers were: Ronald Griffith, President; Phillip Cornett, Vice President; Betty Jordan, Treasurer; Carolyn Smith, Reporter; Loretta Blythe, Secretary. Our sponsors were: Mrs. Thelma Justice and Mrs. Jewnetti Darnell. Our Senior Play You’ll Die Laughing, was a big success.
