We were off to a good start under the supervision of our class advisor, Mr. Fox. At the first class meeting election of officers was held. Those elected were: President, Dick Geyso; Vice-President, Peter Beno; Secretary, Elaine Keyser; Treas¬ urer, Betty Brown. Then came the big day--Initiation. A party was given the sophomores in return for the initiation.party. The class was represented in such organizations as band, chorus, FHA, FFA, football, basketball, and cheerleading. After three months of freedom, thirty-four ambitious students returned in the fall of 1950. Under the leadership of Mr. Ruelke and the class officers, President, Helene Lorenz; Vice-Presi¬ dent, Jack Hopfensperger; Secretary, Shirley Klister; Treasurer, Bob Buechler; we were guided through the year. Soon it was our turn to initiate the freshmen. For the remainder of the year, we continued our activities as our shyness began to disappear. Determined to make the last two years as successful as the first two, the class accomplished many more things under the direction of our advisors, Miss Youniss and Mr. Kosnar. The class elected Vincent Meulemans, President; Jack Hopfensper ger, Vice-President; Audrey Brittnacher, Secretary; Shirley Klister, Treasurer. The main event of the year was the Junior Prom dec¬ orated to the theme Candyland’ 1 . Vincent Meulemans and Aud¬ rey Brittnacher reigned as King and Queen followed by the court of honor which consisted of Betty Schreurs, Shirley Klister, Ruth Ver Hagen and their escorts. The junior class play, That ' s My Boy M , was another successful event during the year. Before we knew it, it was time to start our Senior year. With Mrs. Straus and Mr. Knox as our advisors everything was soon underway. Officers elected for the last year of our high school days were President, Alice Broeren; Vice-President, Shirley Klister; Secretary, Bob Buechler; and Treasurer, Audrey Britt¬ nacher. Everyone wanted to make the last year successful by co¬ operating in producing the High-Lite and organizing articles for the annual, Reflector ' 1 , As the football season was coming to a close, everyone was excited about the big game--Homecoming. The homecoming game was played against Winneconne and was a success for Wrights¬ town, In the evening a dance was held, sponsored by the senior class and the football squad. Jack Hopfensper ger reigned as King and chose Helen Nelessen as his Queen. The court of honor con¬ sisted of Audrey Brittnacher and Vincent Meulemans, Betty Schreurs and Rusty Titel. In February the class play, ' Finders Creepers, n was given under the direction of Mr. Knox, and was a big success. It was a three-act mystery comedy by Donald Payton, Finally, on May 28 came the biggest day of all--Graduation. The class of 53 will look back upon Wrightstown High School with fond thoughts and memories. CLASS PROPHECY One day as I was reading through the mail I noticed an invitation to attend an open house at the radio and television station WBAY in Green Bay. The invitation was signed by JACK HOPFENSPER- GER, the President of the station. Since it had been fifteen year s since I ' d last seen Jack, the night of graduation from high school, I decided to visit the station. I arrived at the station at 5 p.m. and was greeted by the door man, CLAYTON LIEBERGEN, He led me to studio A where ALICE BROERENwas finishing announcing her daily fashion show. After the show Alice and I walked to another studio to hear a Sports Broad¬ cast. The broadcaster turned out to be BOB BUECHLER and he had, as a guest on his show LOUIE HENNESSEY, who had been named the Ping Pong Cahmp of the Year. While we were there, JIM and BETTY BROWN came in and we all had a very nice visit. Jim said he owned an electrical shop where he sold radio and television sets. Betty worked as a sales girl in th e, store. They were visiting the station, too. After the sports news we listened to the famous news commen¬ tator, BOB FINK. Bob gave a very good description of the news and had a foreign correspondent, DICK GEYSO, and a correspon¬ dent in the United States, HELEN NELESSEN, give reports. After his program, Bob said he would introduce me to the fin¬ ancial director of the station, JOE FISCHER. As we were walk¬ ing to the office to see Joe, we saw a man sweeping floors and an¬ other washing windows. When they looked up I recognized them- - PAUL SPIETZ and JACK BURNS, We stopped to talk to them and Jack said he was a part time actor in western shows. Paul asked if I had met his wife. When I said I hadn ' t, he told me she worked as a secretary in the office. When we entered the office I was very pleasantly surprised to see GERRY PAGEL as the secretary. We went into Joe ' s office and found him working on a script with ELAINE KEYSER. After a pleasant chat, Elaine took me to a mystery program sponsored by the Lux Company, now owned by ROGER RESCHKE. The large television cameras were being placed and focused by ROGER MEULEMANS and VINCE MEULEMANS. We went over to talk with them and Roger informed us that he and Vince were part¬ ners in a big television company. The show opened with a commercial given by BETTY SCH- REURS. This was followed by the Mystery Play, FLOYD KLISTER played the leading role, with PATSY RUNNOE as the leading lady. CLYDE WOBECK was the villain. After watching their excellent performances, we went backstage to talk to them. Upon the conclusion of our visit, I said I would like to see the Hit Parade. As this program was next on the schedule, Patsy and I went to see it. We entered the studio and were shown to our seats. Sitting next to me was RUTH VER HAGEN We visited for a few minutes and she told me she was a sound effects engineer for some of the soap operas. As the show began, AUDREY BRITT- NACHER sang a beautiful solo. Later a quartet, the Andrews Bro¬ thers, did a song and tap dance number. The quartet consisted of RUSTY TITLE, RONNIE WIERSCHKE, EUGENE FELDKAMP, and JiMPRLST. Alter the show, we went to see the boys. Eugene told me that he and ELAINE TET ZLAFF had been mar ried £or f p - teen years. Their oldest son was going to start high school in the The next program of the evening was the Lemac Program i aey had hired a new master of ceremonies to replace Bob i k and this was to be his first night on the air for this particular pro¬ gram. The new MC turned out to be BOB SCHMELTER Be- fore the program he spoke to several people in the audience and picked some contestants for the program. One of the people he talk¬ ed to was SHIRLEY KLISTER and, since she had been one of his classmates, he asked her to be a contestant. The show was a great success and later Bob talked to us and said he ' d been working as a comedian ever since he graduated from W. H. S. ° After finishing the tour of the station, I, HELEN LORENZ, boarded a bus to return to my job as society editor for the Mil¬ waukee Sentinel, and my daily broadcast over station WOKY.
