iW Miss Ruby Bebermeyer Recognizing the devotion to duty, the faithfulness to high ideals, the willingness to serve, and the inspiration given by the elementary teacher, we of the Echo staff dedicate this 1960 year- book to the first grade teacher of Wright City Elementary School, Miss Bebermeyer. Miss Bebermeyer has served the Wright City School faithfully for the past thirteen years and has had the privilege and respon- sibility of starting the boys and girls of our community on their way to an education. We feel she typifies the spirit of a truly fine teacher, and by honoring her we hope to show gratitude also for the other teachers in our elementary school, both present and past. 3 F. C. We, the Senior Class, do hereby will to the faculty the memories of our quietness. They will need it to cope with next year's seniors. To the Juniors, we will our large membership, since they are such a small class. To the Sophomores, we will our talent for having a deficit in funds. To the Freshmen, being a quiet and studious class, we will our loud and boisterous ways. Individually we do will and bequeath the following: I, Jim Vogt, do hereby will my knowledge of buying cars, especially red Mer- curys,— for they have garage-itis —to all people planning to buy cars. I, Gary Shipley, being of usually sad state of affairs, leave my place in trig” class to Lonnie Henry and do hope he makes better use of it than I. I, Darlene Fine, being of doubtful mind, will to anyone who needs it, my ability to make good grades and stay out of trouble. I, Jerry Taylor, do hereby will my winning smile, and pleasing disposition, to Ricky Tremblay. I also will my extra large oil drum to Ronnie Kidwell. I, Charles Kraft, will my old gym shoes, which are about worn out, to Edward Stuerman who, if careful, may get another year's wear out of them. I, Mary Lou Ring, will to no one my inability to think of something original to will. I, Gerald Schindler, will my ability to never be in home room to Teddy Nadler and my ability in trig” to Susie Hamilton. I, Weldon Bali, will my ability to cook in the Home Economics room to Danny Lewis. May he grow tall and strong to make center on the team next year. I also will my hot Chv-v to Julius Mozee and my height to Sid Buchanan. I, Marilyn Boehmer, being of sound body and shaken nerves, feel that every- thing I have I had better take with me. I, Carol Linnenbringer, will my loud voice and boisterous ways to any Fresh- man who may need them. I, Richard Phegley, will my ability to be in the wrong place at the right time to Theodore Nadler. I, Brenda J. Luckett, will all my old expired driving permits to Ida Woolfolk. I also will my biology workbook and limited typing ability to Walter Mozee. I, Craig Pailer, do hereby will my car, the hottest car in Wright City, to Lonnie Henry to enable him to move a little faster. I, Melba Klausmeier, will my responsibilities of the editorship of the news- paper to Melva Jean Eversmeyer. I, Don Eversmeyer, will my Wednesday afternoon KWRE school announcer's job to Roger Grinkman—with his personal ideas on pronunciation the program should be unique; my slide rule to Jake Flake—maybe with that he can figure how to stay out of trouble; and to Ronald Gruenefeld and Frances Hunn my row- dy ways—may they use them conscientiously. 10 Senior Class Prophecy The year is 1975. In her penthouse apartment high above New York City we find Mary Lou Ring, now a famous author. She is assembling the material she has gotten from her trip over the country visiting with and checking on her old classmates of 1960. She plans to write her next book about them be- cause they would make such interesting characters. Following is some of the information she gathered: It was very surprising to see Carol Linnenbringer dressed in the blue uniform of a policewoman. She has married a police sergeant whom she met dur- ing an investigation of the Foristell Elevator robbery. With her trusty gun in her holster and police dog Rifle at her side, she has solved many other cases. Craig Pailer was not too much of a surprise because he was such a suc- cess in high school that everyone expected him to rise to great heights. He is now the executive of a large firm in New York City specializing in muscle- building techniques. He is called Craig Atlas more often than not. Richard Phegley, now treasurer of the United States, credits the FFA for giving him experience in handling money. He tries to make a little extra money for the U.S. treasury by frequent trips to Las Vegas, Nevada. Making good use of the English he learned his senior year is Charles Kraft. He is now professor of English at Vassar College. It seems as though he really enjoys it there, too. The name of Don Eversmeyer is seen quite frequently in the papers these days. Don, being a great rocket expert, is on his way to the moon in a new rocket he has just designed. Who says there is no such thing as a singing barber besides Perry Como? Gary Shipley has proved that there is. He has already won ten gold records and is on his way to winning more. He can also give a good haircut. Jerry Taylor is now a famous newspaper columnist. His column entitled Dear Abby Taylor , gives advice to the lovelorn. Having married and had several children, Marilyn Boehmer has become quite an expert on child care. In fact, she is such an expert that she has become a world-known lecturer on the subject. Melba Klausmeier is another housewife who has gone on to great things. She won the Mrs. America contest this year. After graduating from the school of medicine, Brenda Luckett settled down to being a doctor in good old Wright City. Gerald Schindler decided he wanted to get away from it all so he joined the Foreign Legion. He is really away from it all now in the middle of the Sahara Desert. Rominofffs Restaurant in Hollywood says it has the best chef in the U.S. The chef’s name is Weldon Ball. He learned to cook so well in his home-ec. class. Jim Vogt, Private Investigator. That is the way his cards read. Jim is still investigating the case of who forgot to tighten the screws on the sleigh at the Christmas party in 1959. The Municipal Opera in St. Louis is having one of its best seasons this year. Darlene Fine has sung in several of its productions, and she always attracts large crowds. MR.
