Senior Prophecy Report to Board of Directors of the Ford Foundation April 1, 1970 I have been commissioned by the head of the Ford Foundation to ascertain which of the 1958 High School Graduating Classes has achieved the greatest diversity of occupation during the past twelve years. Not only is my choice for the above mentioned honor outstanding for its great diversity, it is also extraordinary in its achievements in the various fields of endeavor. The members have, almost without exception, risen to the top in their chosen occupations. After a great deal of study, meditation, and prayer, I have finally arrived at a unanimous decision. As evidence of the wisdom of my choice, witness the following: Members of the Wright City High School Graduating Class of 1958 Norma Booher: Whose name is familiar to everyone, has become a famous Authoress. Titles of two of her latest books are: “This English Language” and “Controlling Your Temper.” Charlotte Burgan: Because of a natural talent and diligent practice, she has become the chief tester for a chewing gum company, seeing how many cracks she can get out of it before it looses it’s flavor. Frankie Cox: Upon the death of Arthur Murray, his most able pupil, Frankie Cox became head of the corporation and was featured on the T. V. show. Paul Dillon: Head barber at the Waldorf Astoria Barber Shop. It was always such a fetish with him to keep his hair nicely trimmed and combed that he naturally became a Tonsorial Artist. Edward Flake: On the theory, “If you can’t lick ’em, join ’em” he became a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and has now worked up to the rank of Captain. Sharon Harms: Upon the retirement of Ester Williams, has become the rage of the nation for her appearances in movies and on T.V. as a featured swimmer and lady wrestler. Mary Jane Klausmeier: She is now a night reporter for “New York Daily Times” with the Water- front beat. Her former classmates would not know her, as she wears slacks all the time and is never caught without the trusted revolver. The Underworld characters all stear clear of her as they know she is “Dead Eyed Dick” with any weapon handy and can put Maverick in the shade with a deck of cards. Neal Ordelheide: He is now an undercover agent for the F. B. I. assigned to contraband liquor, for he had always had a nose for such stuff. Marilyn Reich: Shortly after graduation she got a job with Burgrabbe Truck Service and from there went to Red China and drove a truck along Burma Road. You remember she had early experience driving back and forth between Pitts and Wright City. Ralph Rogers: Upon graduation, Mr. Rogers became head of a firm which manufactures inex- pensive automobile parts. He was always in need of these things and thought others might, also. Leora Uthe: Miss Uthe’s classmates will remember her as being shy and afraid of boys. Sur- prisingly enough, she conquered these shortcomings to the extent that now she is a teacher of etiquette and charm in an exclusive girls’ school. James B. Vessels: Mr. Vessels is now the Master of Ceremonies for the Ozark Opery. He has become one of the most famous Country and Western performers. He first became interested in the Opery on January 21, 1958, when the group gave a show in the high school; and signed a contract at that time. His fine technique and quick wit have served him in good stead ever since. Murrill Wohler: Mr. Wohler is now the Director of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. This is really no surprise, as he was always an admirer of Classical Music. Many of his former classmates will remember that he tried so hard to go to high school for thirty days without missing, but never quite made it. Now, after each thirtieth performance he has a huge celebration. 11
