We were greeted by Mrs. Schaadt, our teacher for the first year. The following fall Mrs. Germann ushered us into the room across the hall. Losing six and gaining four, we numbered twenty-one. After losing two and adding five, our third year found Mrs. Moser teaching twenty-four little angeIs. Our fourth year, Mrs. Monroe taught a record breaking twenty-nine students, we had gained five and lost none. The school years of l952 and l953, we were under the able supervision of Mr. Kisor. Losing seven and gaining one, we suffered a reduction to twenty-three pupils in the fifth grade. Bob Brittsan and Ardith Yoh were our gain in the sixth grade, giving us twenty-five classmates. Somewhat fearful and slightly disgusted at the stairs, we advanced to the seventh grade and our seats in the study hall with Mr. Kreischer as our sponsor. We had an increase of one, losing one and gaining two. Our eighth year, the year of the state test, we lost three and gained one. Several of our twenty- four scholars ranked among the ten high in the county. Under the direction of Miss Meeker, our spon- sor, we gave a play entitled Tom Sawyer. Gaining one and losing two, all twenty-four of us were finally able, this year, to take our place among the high school students. Somewhat to our surprise, we lived through initiation and a party that very night with the aid of our sponsor, Mrs. Schaffner. Mighty Sophomores, we still were twenty-four strong, gaining and losing two. Our names are on the record as the last class attempting initiation. Mr. Drennan served us well as a sponsor. Happily, we, under the guidance of Mr. Flook, took our stations as upperclassmen. Our Junior year was probably the most fun of all. The fun came in two general lumps--Our class play Two Dates For Tonight, most aptly directed by Mr. Wise, and our prom Fairyland Romance. Jubilantly, we entered our last year at dear old Wren High School, looking forward to what it held in store. Mr. Amers and Mr. Kreischer were the sponsors of twenty-three, losing Julia Brown and hav- ing no gain. We set a new record in magazine sales, nearly outdid ourselves on money making schemes, and, of course, planned for our long awaited class trip. Linda Royer, Peony Queen candidate, is one of the wonderful class of 1959. Senior Class Will We, the Senior Class of nineteen hundred and fifty-nine, have drawn up a will leaving our few earthly possessions to our friends. Class Prophecy of I959 Whew! It's finally over. But I wouIdn'f have missed it for the world! As I sit here reminiscing about our class reunion, I realize that the class of '59 has made great strides in only ten years. Why, just several weeks ago several of our ex-classmates made the headlines in an outstanding manner. The United States finally sent a rocket to the moon. BOB BRITTSAN was the chief engineer of this man rocket And believe it or not the first passenger was our own MARVIN SCHAADT. AS I sat in the old gymnasium this evening, I glanced at the rest of my ex-classmates, all seemingly ab- sorbed in the speech. My gaze first rested on BETTY BROWN. Betty is now a famous hair stylist at a big beauty salon in New York City. Sitting beside Betty was KATHERINE HIRSCHY. Katherine was married shortly after graduation and now has a lovely family. Across the room were LARRY HOLDEN and LESLIE STEWART. Larry is the coach of the World Champion Harlem Globetrotters. And Leslie lbelieve it or notl is his star player. Leslie surprised everyone by reaching a height of 6' 6 l Next to them were LINDA ROYER, CHARLOTTE GEHRES, and ANNE MOSER. Linda is now the private secretary for a big corporation president. Charlotte is the home economics agent for Van Wert County and has just received a state award for her outstanding work. Anne has iust returned from France where she is working for the United States government. My eyes next rested on DON WILLIAMS. Don is now the co-partner of a large barber shop in Chicago. And who is his partner? You guessed it! DON HEY. Unfortunately Don couldn't make it for the banquet, but someone had to keep the business going. Beside Don were JO ANN LICHTENSTEIGER and ARDITH YOH. The girls were chattering like magpies, but of course they have a lot in common. Jo Ann is now the head nurse at University Hospital in Columbus, and Ardith has been receiving awards for her outstanding nursing ability. I wondered what CAROL MYERS was thinking as she looked around. Since she is now a famous artist, she was probably thinking of ways to brighten up the auditorium a little. I saw LARRY ROYER fidgeting in his seat. He was probably anxious to get back to his IOO0 acre ranch in Texas. Oh,that reminds me. I wonder why DALLAS AGLER wasn't there. Maybe he was having trouble with some of his ultra-modern equipment on his huge farm. Beside Larry were JERRY CUSTER and BOB NOFER. Jerry is now in the poultry business on a large scale. He furnishes chickens to all the restaurants in northwestern Ohio. Bob is the president of a large company that manufactures farm machinery. I saw JUDY TURNER absent-mindedly scribbling on her napkin. Perhaps she was taking notes on the speech. This is right in her line since she is now a stenogropher for Bob's company. Next to Judy was ELAINE SPRINGER. Elaine wasn't certain she would be able to take time off from her busy schedule to attend the banquet. She is currently singing at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Across from Elaine were MAX PRIDDY and JIM BRITTSAN. Max is now a famous cabinet maker and he has built cabinets for many famous people, including the President of the United States. Jim, after attending West Point, entered the army and is now a general. Let's see now. Have I forgotten anyone? Oh, how could I have forgotten RON SHIVLEY. Ron has as- tounded the scientific world by doing the impossible--inventing a perpetual motion machine. If I remember correctly, he was working on it when we were in high school. Well, I guess that is everyone. I think old Wren High should be proud of the class of '59. 4,F 4 Nr, 1 J' xxx 4 gp! 69 Y: Lux XE? UNDERGRADS ' , -. bl ,. We're finally upperclassmen. There have been rough times, but we've had just loads of fun. Allen Etzler is this year's President, Jim Gehres is Vice-President, Nancy Smith is our Secretary-Treasurer. Our Junior Class Play Shoot the Works was presented October 25. We had a lot of fun preparing it. We sold iello, had bake sales, and served at ball games. We were glad to welcome our class rings this year. We are very proud of them. The main event for us this year is the Prom. All in all, we are glad that we are finally Juniors. Grade Ten I 'G . We were a proud and happy group last year as we returned home from Dennison University with a l state rating. Last fall, we gave a minstrel which was enioyed by all. Also last fall, part of the chorus went to Fort Wayne and did a half-hour recording of Hi-Time at the WOWO studio.
