Track Rounding out the athletic department of R. B. Worthy is the school ' s track team. This year several boys participated in the Wed¬ nesday track events held at Worthy. The events of each track meet included sprints, distance runs (100, 440, and 880 yard dashes; the mile), discus throws, jumps, shot puts, and relays. Practice began in Match and the season ended with Worthy finishing third in District VI. Eddie Dempsey soars to new heights over the pole vault. Jerry Boardwine prepares to throw the discus.

Steady improvement throughout the season marked the 1969 Shaker Baseball team as a team with a will to win. With great effort and an even stronger will, the team placed first in the District Six Tour¬ nament played at Saltville. The baseball season ended with the Shakers finishing third in District Six. All the players are to be com¬ mended for a job well done, and as most of the players are return¬ ing in 1970, an even better season is forthcoming. Coaches Davison and Maiden with the team.
