Girl ' s Basketball Coached by Mrs. Paige Arnold, the Varsity Shaker- ettes put forth a lot of effort to make this year a suc¬ cessful one. Although success was not indicated by the team ' s scores, the girls compensated by display¬ ing excellent sportsmanship. The two seniors of the team, Cathy Connett and Grayson Ward, worked effectively as a team within the team the first few games. However, Grayson received injuries in a car wreck and was unable to complete the season. The team regrets losing two such fine players in May, but 1970 is another year and 1969 ' s juniors will be the seniors! T. Henderson, Y. Walker, J. Henegar, J. Brannon, M. Arnold, B. Sykes, G. Ward, C. Connett, M. Surber, D. Holmes, B. Atwell, D. Asbuiy, J. Wertz, S. Debord, J. Chapman. CAPTAINS AND COACH MANAGERS - W. Gillenwater, B. Helton, A. Griffitts. 97
