THOSE TO WHO WE ARE MEMBERS of SCHOOL BOARD: Ray B. Worthy, Clerk, Dr. Thomas K. McKee, Chairman, and Hedley L. Craft. Jasper Q. Peeples MAYOR Anthony R. Schmerda, ARCHITECT, Vint T. Rector, SUPERINTI-LNIDENT of CONSTRUCTION. GRATEFUL We wish to express our gratitude to those whose ingenuity, re- soursefulness, and drive are largely responsible for obtaining what the citizens and students of Saltville have dreamed of and needed for years--a new school. Through their careful planning, hard work, and organized effort construction was finally begun. Near the beginning of the 1957-58 school year, their goal was attained as a modern, spacious school was completed. The people of Saltville are justifiably proud of their new place of learning, and proud also of the citizens who made it possible. TOWN COUNCIL: N. O. Williams, W. J. Totten, J. W. Sauls, C. D. Shannon, NL L. Bunts, R. L. Warren, R. D. Campbell, and A. N. Hawley.

OUR DREAMS REALIZED Foreword Transition: Webster describes it as the passage from one place or state to another. However, it has a much deeper and meaningful definition to the students at R.B. Worthy High School. It means that they have left behind many unforgettable moments and fond memo- ries of the old high school and have moved to a newer and better place of leaming. 'I'his edition of the CHOO CHOO strives to tell the vivid story of how, with the help of countless guiding hands, the students turned a strange and meaningless structure into the birth- place of many experiences and memories which will live in their hearts forever. 3
