HGMECCMIN Homecoming, one of the most anticipated and joyous events of the school year, was a great success at Worthy High. The celebra- tion was in evidence a week beforehand as all the clubs and classes were bustling around trying to put together a winning float and the football team was practicing extra hard to win the one game of the season that must be won. Saturday finally rolled around and the students were excitedly putting the finishing touches to their floats for the big parade. The streets of Saltville were lined with spectators as the Shaker band proudly led the march through town. The Eighth Grade float with the theme, Let 's Bear With the Shakers was chosen the winner, and the Queen 's Float built by the SCA took second place. The Juniors' float, We Have the G-Men Undercover, won third prize. Nancy Campbell steps up to be crowned by J. Leonard Mauck, Superintendant of Schools.
