SCIENCE CLUB Scientes Orbem Circum Nos The Science Club was organized in 1957 for the purpose of creating, stimulating, and promoting a greater interest in science. Mem- bership is unrestricted and is open to all high school students who are interested in the field of science. ln an age when greater emphasis is being placed upon the development of scientists, it is anticipated that membership in this club shall serve to uncover and stimulate the natural ability of any student who may have a possible future in science. Our motto, Scientes Orbem Circum Nos - Knowing the World About Us, best describes the scope of our aims. Albert Saffold and Eddie Sheffield learn the art of distilling water from Mrs. Surber, a member of the Science Department. Mrs. Davis, the club sponsor, shows Jane Cralle how to use the scales, while another member, Roger Smith, watches. The Latin Club has chosen for its motto the famous words of the great Roman, Julius Caesar: Veni, vidi, vici C'I came, I saw, I conquered J. By promoting interest in the study of Latin, the members hope to increase appreciation of Roman culture and its influence on the world, and also to gain clearer understanding of the nature of English language and literature.
