SENIOR CLASS HISTORY In the autumn of 1947 approxlmately f1fty four small tots trudged the1r way to the b1g brlck bu1ld1ng where they would begm thexr cl1mb to an mvaluable edu catlon The class was so large that lt was d1v1ded 1nto two groups Our f1rst grade teachers were Mrs Cook and Mrs Combs In our second and th1rd years of school we had Mrs Swaby Mrs Cook and Mrs G1lbreath as our teachers Our fourth f1fth and s1xth grade teachers were Mrs Scantland Mrs Combs and Mrs Hamhn respectwely One of the h1ghl1ghts of each of our f1rst s1x years of school was part1c1pat1on 1n a Chr1stmas operetta The year we entered Jumor h1gh we were proud because we were allowed to elect class offlcers and sponsors and to part1c1pate mother new act1v1t1es We entered h1gh school as Green Freshmen As Sophomores we were more serxous about our subjects teachers and act1v1t1es In our Jumor year we presented our class play At the End of the Ra1nbow had paper dr1ves sold magazmes and of course pa1d class dues As a chmax to the act1v1t1es of our Jumor year we honored the Semors w1th a prom 1n wh1ch we At last we are Semors' Our class off1cers are Leon Thacker pres1dent Betty Gee v1ce pres1dent Cel1a Ropp secretary Jerry McC1arren treasurer Mar1belle Wr1ght reporter Nelda Dyer and Terry McCulloch student counc1l re presentat1ves We are proud of the way our class has co operated 1n everyth1ng we have attempted to do Thts year our fund ra1s1ng projects were our class play H1llb1lly Weddln' paper dr1ve sellmg class pms and a bake sale The Jumors gave us a wonderful prom a mght long to be remembered' Through the years the number of our classmates has decreased there are th1rty seven of us left to graduate We are lookmg forward to our class tr1p and f1nally to graduatlon ln May 1959 We also w1sh to express apprec1at1on for our Jumor and Sen1or sponsors Mrs Jackson and Mr Jeffrles They have made our Jumor and Semor years more enjoyable for us 1n many ways We the Semors of 59 regret leavmg but we are faclng the future w1th 1nsp1rat1on g1ven us through educat1on We hope we w1ll long be remembered by the people of Worthlngton as the Semors of 1959 ' Ma rJor1e Payne I W . - . l . , . , J .
