Uhe Rambler Senlor Class Hlstory In the autumn of 1944 a bystander mlght have counted thlrty seven mnocents strollmg through the entrance 1nto the Worthmgton Grade School bulldlng As flrst graders th1s group of live wlre glrls and boys was a constant source of trouble to thelr teacher MISS Cooper The names of those students were Robert Baker Gene Calvert Tommy Burch Mary Dee Cxty Pat11c1a Benton Earlene Corya Polly Dorne Ceceha Duckworth Robert Clemmer Charlotte Abrams Lotty Bechtel Donald Elgln Gary Flynn Jack Wolfe Ronnle Halderman Bar bara Hamhn Beverly Heaton Fred Harrls Margaret Frances Naoml Johnson Jack Kav James Martlndale Jean Powell Ronald Pershlng Sue Padgett Howard Reel Gary Scott Paula Skomp Robert Starnes Joan Stantz Larry Thompson James Whlte Jlmmy Schuffler Reta Ann Waskom Davld Waskom Delores Tolen and Robert Wmstead Durmg the second year Janet Sparks and Evelyn Woolley started The followlng year our class mcreased by four members Our teacher was MISS Dollahan Our fourth f1fth and S1Xth grate teachers were Mrs Scantland and Mr Defore respectively Mr Defore taught us ln both the flfth and slxth grades In those years we galned Leahbelle Hamnn Kelth Arthur and Harold Harper In 1950 51 we began our Junlor h1gh year We thought we were very grown up and could overrun the h1gh school students but l1ve and learn Mr Flrks sponsored our seventh grade class and Mr Greene was our elghth grade sponsor Larry and Ark1e Vandeventer transferred to the Worthmgton school from Calvertsvllle and Sarann Owen from SW1tZ Clty ln 1951 There were thlrty three of us IH the flrst year of h1gh school Charles Porter started h1S h1gh school years ln 1952 when he came from Calvertsvllle We heard of plans for a new school bulldmg whlle we were Flesh men All ot us were hopmg that the rumors were true The followlng year on August twenty seventh a smaller group of thlfty two returned as Sophomores Maybe we were a llttle paler green ln color but we were not lacklng 1n pep 'Ihe most lmportant thlng th1S year was the selectlon of our class r1ngs After an enjoyable vacatlon we agaln entered school to flnd that our class r1ngs had axr1ved Our spxrxts were mdeed ralsed by thelr commg Thlrty students made up our class from wh1ch slx later wlthdrew It was durlng thls year that the flnal plans were made to start con structlon on the new school bu1ld1ng As we passed the constructlon of the new school bulldlng we were hopmg to be the f1rst Semors to graduate from It Work began August 15 1954 and took twelve months to complete Men Are L1ke Streetcars was the name of our J unlor Play The whole class took part ln some way I9 ...-......... 2 :agp , , ,: ., .,' 0.u0oQo,oo,::,: 5 6 , - . , .
