I n t r o d u C1 n g W orthzngton, Mznnesota Worthmgton a growmg commumty 111 southwestern M1nnesota has more than doubled 1tS populat1on 1n the last two decades In 1930 the populat1on was 3 878 and 1n 1950 7 895 W1th th1s growth 1n populat1on there has also been 1ncreased 1ndus tr1al development and bu1ld1ng con struct1on F1ve churches and f1Ve hundred homes have been bullt 1n the last seven years A m1ll1on dollar add1t1on was made to the power plant and the new wmg 1nclud1ng the cafeter1a and gym nas1um has been added to the grade school bu1ld1ng The MUHICIPH1 HOSp1ta1 dedlcated Y Y to wh1ch any c1ty may pomt W1th pr1de T he Turkey Capztal of the World Ten thousand people watch f1V6- hundred turkeys march down Mam Street 1n the K1ng Turkey Day Parade In add1t1on to the turkeys the colorful parade 1S composed of bands and floats from surround1ng towns as well as representat1ves from our own Clty Not only do many people V1S1t Worth1ngton on K1ng Turkey Day but It IS a popular shoppmg center the year around Oxford Street bordermg the c1ty on the north IS the scene of a steady development of 1ndustr1al and commer1cal bus1nesses The surroundmg countryslde 1S abundant wxth farms and acres of corn and oats The many poultry houses and gra1n elevators prove 1tS produc t1v1ty Worthmgton contmues to grow and l1ve for the future 2 in Ma ., 1951, is a three-stor, structure l l
