Seniors rate, date, speculate In 1946 a throng of lively screaming seventh graders set their feet upon the hal dreaming that the years ahead of them were to be the happiest and swiftest ones of their lives Lets return now to the year 1946 and reminisce the days leading up to the gradua tion of the Class of 1952 ln sex enth grade there was always a race among the girls to see who could find the baggyest shirt for the most manly looking gal wa always the one that was on the beam The Tom Sawyer operetta fstarring Tom Huttonj added culture to the year Some students were mighty proud when they were named to the Junior Honor Society in their first year of high school The school parties became something to look forward to in the eighth grade Here was a chance to show off new dresses and new ties and sometimes one or two girls would have a date G AA and tumbling were em Meet the class officers Merle Ahrens Student Council representative Jack Campbell vice president Barbara Larson secretary Norman Long president Doug Dunbar who was bus mess manager has moved to another school Shirley J orgenson treasurer is not pictured phasized with the girls The students started off in music around this period and choir The long awaited freshmen year came at last Four girls were chosen as Junior high cheerleaders For the girls the main event of the year was the tea held for the mothers There the teachers had the opportunity to meet the mothers and have a heart to heart talk about their little darlings Entering senior high was a big event' Driver s training was fun though rather hazardous for both the car and its occupants but when the day of reckoning was past and licenses were passed out few regretted their efforts Also here was the first chance to be come a member of the Student Council It was a quite an honor too to dress up as Chmamen and serve at the Junior senior ban quet Then came the Junior year and what a year' Xl Lois Fagerness Rhonna Hower Beverly Schecter Merle Funk Ricky Vanzwol and Shirley J orgenson are busy filling out magazine sales folders Looks like they ve created quite a mess I 3 . 5 1 f 9 ' v A , J X It a D r x, ,M 7- , . Work, play, and stay out late Lookmg l1ke anythmg but a couple of Shlp wrecked mar1ners are Joe Fenstermacher preslclent when we were junlors and J olyn Clark as they lead the Grand March past the Prlde of the Prom The March Hare looks astomshed as Barbara Larson and Margaret Albmson f1ll nut cups 1n prep aratlon for the Allce 1n Wonderland dlnner That year was full to the br1m w1th 6XC1tE ment and act1v1t1es Wonderful Jun1ors was the t1tle g1ven us by the senlors feven though they meant It sarcast1cally'J Many of the boys began playlng on the A squad for the flrst t1me and therefore became members of the W Club Thelr 1n1t1at1on was somethlng they ll always remember It was also qulte an honor when the only three photographers on the yearbook and paper staffs were from our class The Pep Club was started and for the f1rst t1me Junlors had 1nd1v1dua1 portralts ln the TroJan. Many of the students were honored by belng accepted 1nto the Nat1onal Thespxan Soclety, but the two blg events, of course, were the Jumor-semor banquet and prom. The banquet theme was Alice in Wonderland and those attendmg the prom found themselves surrounded by fxsh 1n Neptune s Court Some were fortunate enough to quahfy for Qulll and Scroll For the flrst t1me ever the class rmgs were obtalned 1n the Juruor year Came sprmg and the presentatxon of the h1lar1ous comedy A Young Mans Fancy
