Pardon us for strutting But . . Have you seen Our new atlzletic field The pride of the entire community is re- flected in the impressive ceremony preceding each football game on the new athletic field. As the high school band, led by the color guard of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, be- gins to march down the field, there's a dead silence among those on the bleachers. The spectators know that when the familiar white spats step high along the green carpet, there?s a memorable ceremony to take place. The band marches to the end of the field and halts at the flagpole. As the color guard prepares to raise Old Glory, the powerful floodlights are turned out and the field is in utter blackness except for one beam of light centered upon the flag. While the Stars and Stripes are climbing upward, the band plays the stirring National Anthem which pene- trates the stillness with its clear ringing notes. The lights of the field are turned on, the whistle sounds, and the game begins. Every spectator is reminded that he lives in America. By planning such fine recrea- tional facilities, the people of Worthington are striving for a better community and a better place in which to live. They know the new athletic field and playground contributes to the building of better men. Mat.
