Ap- plications are sent to the F.F.A. headquarters in St. Paul, and applicants are selected upon the merit basis of their achievements. Qualifications considered are three years of agricultural training, leadership, scholarship and citizen- ship. lt is the goal of every Ag boy to some day be listed among the State farmers. Keith Schroeder, a member of the General Livestock judging team which was awarded a first place rating in the State Contest in 1950, also participated in the National Contest. Here he is shown accepting the Gold Emblem Award which he earned there. Mr. Johnson, adviser, is making the presentation. With 114 members, the Worthington Chapter is the third largest in the state. All members are eligible to com- pete in judging contests, as well as in public speaking and parliamentary procedure. Annual State Conventions are held at the University Farm in St. Paul, and the National Convention is held at Kansas City. The training of Future Farmers is not confined to class- room work. Actual experience in caring for both crops and livestock is a major part of their study.
