lo tn-QV' THE 1945 sEAsoN Cm Osiefoefg The l944-45 basketball season started on November 24 with the locals receiving a defeat at the hands of Fulda. The next week the Troyans staged a comeback by defeating both Hills ond Adrian in a double header. Then again the Trolans came out on the trailing end of the score This time in a game with Lakefield. Numerous unscheduled games with smaller near by towns were played throughout the season with the Tropans emerging victorious In almost every encounter School spirit was good throughout the season and was fired from time to time by frequent games which were nip and tuck throughout all four quarters Among these games was the Tro1an's second defeat of Luverne, Worthing- ton's chief rival, in a game in which the Luverne gymnasium was packed to the aisles with Trolan rooters Something new to Worthington basketball were the frequent Tuesday night games in addition to the regular Friday night games. The success of the season is due not only to the hard work and practice af the players but also to the coach, Milton .Osterberg, who has made great progress in overcoming the iinx which has been hovering over the team for the past several seasons Coach Osterberg, who was handicapped by the small number of returning veterans and his lack of knowledge concerning the abilities of the various players, was at a disadvantage which could only be overcome by constant practice, Donald Woelfle James Hendrickson Lowell Baker Earl Schuster
