GRID SQUAD The i944 Troian team was hanftiranoed by a light and inexperienced souad Only five let- termen started out the yearg Bernard Brunner, Dudley Crippen, Richard Duba, Dean Kingrey, Edgar Siewert Injuries early in the season to Brunner lcaptainl and several other first elev- en players held the squad at a disadvantage throughout the season The result was that the Troians were defeated by each opposing team The season started out with the locals invading Pipestone to be defeated by the Ar- rows I4 to 6 in one of the closest fought games of the season The following week a game with Washington High of Sioux Falls for the sake of experience proved costly in injuries suffered by the Troians, The next game at Luverne found Worthington on the losing end of the 20-6 score. Worthington's sole touchdown was scored by Brunner One week later an over' ggtimistic Troian team was upset by Lakefield, -6. The next game was the homecoming with Windom, Warthingtan's first home game. Again the determined Traians grudgingly gave ground before a superior blue and yellow line, Prospects for a victory soared in the remaining minutes af the game when the Troians unleased a furious air attack until the blue and yellow again slipped through the Troion line to score, The game ended with Worthington trailing in the 29-l7 score In the second home game of the year Jack- SOrt gave Worthington a Serious trouncing in O game which ended with the score 55-O, Two boys who worked hard throughout the season and received little credit and no glory were student manager LaVerne Hartman and assistant manager Clarence Riss These boys per- formed well their duties of handing out towels, checking out equipment, assisting in the taping of ankles and wrists and numerous other jobs. l, Roxy Rockwood 2, Willis Rohwedder 3.
