This year we have Altonso Ujueta from Columbia, Sigrun Tangemann from Austria, Yuri Chikuma from Japan, Chris- tian Crwalinna from Germany, Ana Gomes-Tabanera, Pepe Marti and Al- berto Montaner from Spain. Surhanth Krishna from India, and Hilde Juressen from Belgium Even though they come here from dif- ferent organizations, all have these same goals: to learn and to understand the American way of life, the culture and the language. Christian says, The American way of life is not easy to accepti That and the foreign language give me some hard times, but when I go back to my country. I will be happy that I had the opportunity to live here. And I am bring- ing home an American piece of mind. Maybe I will never be able to understand everything the U S. has to offer, but I am trying hard and I am getting closer. These students are in our school a whole year. WHS takes care of these stu- dents in several ways. There are special classes offered, such as American history and English for those students who do not understand English well yet. All exchange students are part of International Club, where they tell about their country and become friends with other students who are also interested in different cultures. The foreign students like WHS because of its many facilities, courses, sports, and clubs in which they can participate Being an exchange student is lots of fun. Sometimes it is hard, but there are always friendly teachers and students who are ready to help. This year at WHS is something they will never forget. By Hilde Juressen Opeong,
