Once again, the WHS audito- rium was converted into a courtroom and students of Ms. Nault’s personal law classes became the characters of a trial. The participants were elected by their class- mates for the various posi- tions of defense attorney, plantiff attorney, baliff, judge, witness, or jury member. Oth- er jury members were sum- moned from the student body. After the participants re- ceived the case, they were first sworn to secrecy and were then on their own to pre- pare for the trial. Many hours were spent at the OSU law li- brary. as well as other area li- braries. No participant was al- lowed to cut, miss, or be late for any reason to any class during the preceeding week. On the day of the trial many distinguished guests were present. This year Ohio Su- preme Court Judge Frank Ce- lebrezze was among them. As the courtroom became silent and the trial began, an abun- dance of hard work became apparent to all. When the jury retired to reach a verdict, the floor was opened to questions from the audience. When the jury returned, the courtroom once again became silent as the verdict was read. Then the court came to adjourn- ment and another year of hardwork came to a close.
