Worthington plays in the Central District Golf League. consisting of fourteen schools. All of the City League schools. two CBL sehools. two Mid-Six schools. and two CCL schools, are represented in this League. Games are played on Monday s, starting in April, and continue throughout the spring season. Worthington will play in the Mid-Six Tournament in May at the University Golf Course. Vliesterville is the defending champion and will provide a challenge to worthy Mid-Six competitors. The 1955 golf team was the runner-up in the Mid- Six Tournament, bowing only to Westerville. A larger number of boys from all grades came out for golf this year which definitely shows an increased amount of enthusiasm. This is also very encouraging for Worthingtonis golf future. These w'ork sessions, the financial problems and worries involved. and the necessity of satisfying the majority gave the staff mem- bers a true picture of the production procedure of a high school annual. However, the fun of working to- gether for a common goal, the thrill of first seeing the finished product, and the satisfaction of pleasing others more than compensate for the hours of tedious work. Heading the groups of students who helped produce the Rellcctions,' of 1956 were Sue Shidaker, lfditor, and ,lim McClanahan, Business Blanager. Miss Juliette Noone, a newcomer to the faculty, took charge of ad- vising the editorial department of the staff. Mr. Glenn Vliilliams advised the financial work. In planning the 1956 CARDINAL the foremost en- deavors were to personalize the features to W'.H.S., to cover all phases of school life, and to present an annual that would vividly recall memories for everyone. It is the staff's sincerest desire that you, the student, will be pleased. '? Row l 'N Y an X oorhls Photo Fd Judie Smith, Asst. lid.: S. Shidaker, Editor: G. Thrall, Activ. THE ORACLE The ORACLE, the W.H.S. section in the weekly W'0RTHlNCTON NEWS. grew in many ways during 1955-1956. The ORACIJNI not only covered a full page, but it also added complete coverage of the Jr. High news, included a picture and an editorial every week, and broadened its editorial staff to ten positions. The Cardinal Uutlookfi a sports prediction column written by Robby Robinson, and Cardinal Cut-Lpsf, a review column by Pain Smith were popular new fea- tures. Grad-Tidings, the news from alumni was cov- ered by Jerry Wellman. All the pictures for the OR- ACLE were handled by A. V. Shirk. The URACLIQ was capably directed by Carole Koepke. Editor, and Bliss Juliette Noone, Advisor. The ORACLE covered thc schoolwide news and kept the public up to date on W'.H.S. activities. The journalism class played a major role in the proof- reading process which prececded each Friday deadline. .1- , T Uh ..,,,,,,,,,. lQDlTURl -Xl, S'l',-Xl'iF-lhns l: Nl. Vhml. lfxehange I-Id.: C. THE OUTCRY Feeling that something new would catch the eyes of the students, the SHORT CIRCLVIT staff deeided to adopt a new name and a new style. Thus they became the OIQTCRY staff with their new paper, Tllli ULT- CRY. The first step toward new style was to abolish about seventy percent of the traditional items and features and to include new news with a new twist. The mimeo- graphed paper is now published Eve times a year rather than the usual three, and it contains more literary fea- tures such as excerpts from copy written by the jour- nalism class and the various English classes. Such fav- orites as gossip and letters from the grads are also found in THIS UUTCRY. Editor Sue Stinchcomb and her advisor. Mr. Mat- thews, who was initiated to the advisorship this year. announced that their purpose was to keep news newer and to develop interest through a change in content. This they succeeded in accomplishing, for the student body showed wide approval of their endeavor for new- ness. .. C7 3 'w 'f ' QW' F I'iD1'l'URl.-Xl. STA!-'lf-f Row 1: A.
