TRO TAN The Oentor © lass of 1960 To Wes: Coffee With all of our affection and deep- est respect we dedicate this book to you Mrs. Coffee, our English teacher. For all the time and patience that you have given to us, we, the Senior Class of 1960, say, “Thank you. We feel that the following poem might have been written for you, Mrs. Coffee. To d Teacher A teacher must be both a teacher and PHILOSOPHER if his work is to prosper. ONCE he learns that things casually SAID to a child may bear results THAT are anything but casual, HE feels himself holding reins of destiny. WHO should more carefully weigh values than he who TEACHES those who comprise tomorrow's citizenry? A cynicism seems concomitant with age; but CHILD knows no end of hope and beauty and inspiration. LABORS that would defeat a Hercules will yet be done WITH ease by these laughing children that we teach. GOD grant that we, as teacher, may IN some way catch from some child a part of HIS youthful vision, making the school a true WORKSHOP wherein youth may fashion its dreams aright. Douglas Lawson Foreword As you leaf through these pages, may the close relationship between the student and the school life at Worden High School come alive before your eyes. Treasure this book, and in years to come, may these memories leave an imprint upon your life which will always be remembered.
