There is a number of people who helped make our job eas- ier. their efforts have not gone unappre- ciated. We would like to thank, Robert Ellis Joseph Madden J. Joseph Donovan Lloyd Wheaton Mrs. McGurl Patti George Sargent PAUSE In that uneven hour that separates life from death, we reach back yearning for the past, longing to be among lost friends and dimmed memories, we scoff at our mistakes and look back in envy at our triumphs, no matter how small; as our flame suddenly dies we grasp for the thin air that surrounds our minds, slowly we follow a shadow, down a hard, wind beaten path, barefoot, alone, hungry, getting caught in a swamp of quicksand until we shrink into a silent, feeble sound, Ron Ciras 192 Pat Glennon Socialization Compromise your impulses and the interests of other people and become a human person. Compromise the flushing waters that wash your mind and make you trail the cunning course of the great machine. Compromise the solitary state in which you come to know who, and why, and how. Compromise and awake to fall asleep into the crowds of puppets and become one. Compromise to lose as the rest have lost themselves like you. Debbie Wallace 195 196 197 Pat Glennon 198 “Seth Waves Back” R.D. Being the first spring Sunday, Seth’s existence had to be verified. So he stood by a break in the concrete Gazing at a chicken wing, As the roof of his mouth turned to a pane of glass While his diamond shaped tongue Tried to relinquish its petrification. Everyone turned and smiled for him. He was no more than a silhouette. As they stared from their orange-painted picnic table They kept their cheeks creased. Seth stood alone! He could see them more clearly— but not feel. He could see the food— but not taste. He thought of the past— as they did. He thought of the immediate— as they did. They thought of the future. They turned to wave excitedly to him. As he raised his hand to the right of his head. Then waved with his entire body; From 100 feet to here. 199 200 204 206 The Yearbook Staff Thanks Darmanin Adams Studio Professional Photographers o f America, Inc. 255 North Street Fitchburg, Mass., 01420 208 wm. j.
