A college campus used to provide a peaceful retreat from the hectic rat-race of the outside world. Time was spent in intellectual pursuit, philanthropy, and social activities. Worcester State College exemplified the college microcosm. We find ourselves today in an age when college has become anything but a refuge from the tumultuous world outside. The college community can no longer ignore the problems of our country— and our world; it must be dedicated to rele- vant intellectual pursuit which can be used to improve the lot of humanity. Today. Worcester State College has a new face. It is growing rapidly to meet the demands of an expanding community. But the change goes deeper than a new library or long-awaited dormitories. The real p rogress lies in a growth of spirit— a true involvement and commitment to mankind. The college of today needs a leader of tomorrow. Worcester State College is fortunate to have such a leader. Doctor Robert E. Leestamper is prepared to combine the experience gained from his past with the reality of the present, to produce an attainable goal for the future. We believe that Worcester State College, under the direction of Doctor Leestamper, is destined for a more prominent position in the academic and civic community. It is with pride in this belief, and our sincere best wishes, that we dedicate this yearbook.
