His first contact is at the dorm, with Daddy, whom he can’t quite figure out. How can anyone be so hospitable, busi¬ nesslike, affable, and firm, all at once? Next he is introduced to Cosine, and de¬ cides at once,— He’s okay, but he’ll bear watching. I can’t have a proctor doing me out of my dessert, just because I don’t like to make beds.” Oscar’s third contact is a blind date provided by the same Cosine, and he promptly decides that desserts aren’t so important after all. But that is another story.
