Zn Memoriam He went down As when a lordly cedar, green with boughs, Goes down with a great shout upon the hills, And leaves a lonesome place against the sky. No tribute to Harold W. Presson will ever be fittingly expressed in words. No tablet of bronze can adequately perpetuate his memory. His memorials are rather the men whom his life has forever enriched, and who are passing on to coming generations the torch of his spirit. His greatness was not in his knowledge of sports, nor in his skillful building of great Worcester teams. He was great in heart and in character-in sympathy, in inspiration, in honesty, in self- control. More than all else he was an embodiment of the truth that he who ruleth well his own spirit is greater than he who taketh a city. Never did he vent his personal anxieties upon his teams, never did he sacrifice a player in order that his team might win. His victories came because he poured into his men the fire of his own confidence and enthusiasm. The devotion of his men was his reward. As he taught the game of life, so he played it, played it like a sportsman even with his parting words, Yes, I feel better now, Happy. Surely in the game of life he would bid us carry on as he would have done, and as we think of him he would tell us to Greet the unseen with a cheer! Bid him forward, breast and back as either should be, 'Strive and thrive,' cry, 'Speed-tight on, fare ever There as here.' -I. E. B.
