Ki-Yi Day Spirit Shines Through A Rcdmcn homecoming is usually hectic and action packed. 1980 was no exception. The morning of Sept. 19 found grades K-12 preparing for the parade which would precede down mainstreet. The Sophomore class captured first place in the float division with their float, “As the Pigskin Turns . At 7:15 that evening the cheerleaders arrived via fire engine at the playing field, setting the scene for another Redmen Home- coming victory. The Redmen trounced the Tulare Chieftans 44-12 that night. It was the fourth consecutive homecoming the Redmen have won. The game was followed by a KOKK disco in the gym. Pictured right, Heather Selland and Jodi Davis donned their fifties outfits to show their Redmen spirit. Pictured lower left, Jana Merkle and Kandy Kroell are caught “clowning around. ■ SENIORS Dominate Carnival All of the classes again tried to outdo the other for the honor of having their candidates reign. The carnival is an annual event held each year to raise money for the PTA. This year the senior class took top honors for the second time in their high school careers. The seniors raised $450.75 by having a senior breakfast and selling chances on $35 cash. The Freshmen learned fast the meaning of competition as they came in second with $325.19. In order to raise money they had a bake sale, cake raffle, sold carameled apples at a football game, and sold chances on a clock radio. Following the Freshmen were the Sophomores raising $294.25. They cleaned house, had a bake sale, sold hot apple cider at a football game, and sold chances on gas. The Junior class raised $170.08. They had a car wash, raked lawns, and sold chances of $35 worth of groceries.
