Carnival 1974- Freshmen Reign The carnival this year was a time for lots of hard work. Each class tried to outdo the others in the battle to obtain their goal—having their candidates crowned King and Queen. The senior candidates were Gary Swenson and Cyndi Trudeau; the juniors worked for Mark Bittner and Kathy Berg; the sophomores earned for Bob Knigge and Caryn Moe; and the freshmen really out did themselves in order to have their candidates, Jack Davis and Shelly Schlicht named as King Jack and Queen Shelly. They raised over $900 in their winning effort. This year, because of the high price of everything, there were no bake sales or candy sales. But in spite of this, the classes of W.H.S. raised almost $1,500 through such ac- tivities as paper drives, raking leaves, washing windows, painting, and of course selling chances. Yes, carnival '74 was indeed a busy time. 5
