Seniors Prepare for Future Robert Hill was main speaker. Baccalaureate service was held for the Class of 1970 on Sunday, May 24. The speaker for the occa- sion was Rev. Cain. On May 26, forty-six eager, and yet sad, seniors walked proudly down the aisle in the Armory to re- ceive their diplomas. Nancy Andersen and Jean Asper gave the welcome and farewell on behalf of the class. Robert Hill from WNAX in Yankton was the main speaker at the commencement exercises. Craig Beddow and Nancy Andersen received the Dzie awards for maintaining the highest grade point aver- age during their senior year. Helen Goergen, Kathy Peterson, Erna Taylor and Vicki Senska were award- ed the Anna Hollister Loan. Although graduation marked the end of high school days for the Class of ’70, they have many memories of their last year. Homecoming meant the crowning of two seniors for the Chief and Princess of Ki-Yi Day. Cindy Berg and Scott Alexander received this honor. Their attendants were Annette Scherschlight, Kathy Scherschlight, Philip Hinker, and Jerry Twogood. Carnival candidates from the senior class were Dorothy Dankey and Steve Steichen. Much hard work was done by members of the class to support their candidates. The senior class play ended up to be a success even after being delayed by a snow storm. The cast en- joyed putting on the play very much. Senior skip day found the class in the city of Sioux Falls. After touring the airport and zoo, an enjoy- able meal was eaten at Walt and Mary's. The after- noon found the seniors in various spots enjoying their free time. They returned that night, a little tired and dirty, but thoroughly pleased with their skip day. Then there was graduation, and saying good-by to W.H.S., to friends, and to each other; but the mem- ories live on for the Class of 1970.
