STATE GOVERNMENT OBSERVED On the morning of February 9, 1967, the twenty-eight seniors of Woonsocket High School along with the ten Forestburg High School seniors headed for Pierre. Upon their arrival in the capitol city they alighted from the bus and walked through the basement into the rotunda or the main lobby. Mr. Swenson, Sanborn County Representative, was paged and came down the main staircase to meet us. After a lunch at the St. Charles Hotel, the seniors, along with supervisors and the Legion- naires, who sponsored the trip, visited the Senate and House of Representatives in action. They were privileged to witness a special joint session in which National V. F.W. Commander Leslie Fry was the main speaker. All in all the day was not only an enjoyable one, but also one of the most informative days the seniors have ever spent. 8
