On September, 1950, twenty-eight students were enrolled in the freshman class. Members of the class were: Darwin Peterson, Myron Beintema, James Davis, Thomas McCoy, Robert Merkle, Gordon Kappel, James Jenssen, Wallace Rauch, James Forbes, James McCoy, Richard Sweeney, Bernard Ashfeld, Virginia Baysinger, Mary Ellen Hollings- worth, Robert Brewer, Barbara Barstead, Janet Gutzmer, Janette Steichen, Katherine Houlihan, Theresa Howard, Lois Druse, Lila Feistner, Letha Jenssen, Marva Rumelhart, Judy Ritter, Evelyn Lang, Betty Vallen, Junior Jenssen, Class Advisor was Keith Warne. Virginia Baysinger transferred to Forestburg High School at the end of the year. Letha Jenssen transferred to Alpena. Class officers were: President, Janet Gutzmer: Vice-President, Theresa Howard; Secretary-Treasurer, Mary Ellen Hollingsworth. Carni- val King and Queen candidates were Robert Brewer and Theresa Howard. During the Sophomoxe year, class officers were: Gordon Kappel, President; Jim McCoy, Vice-President; Jim Davis, Secretary-Treasurer. Robert Merkle discontinued school and Myron Deintema transferred to Forestburg High School. Jim McCoy and Janet Gutzmer were Carnival King and Queen. Lila Feistner continued school at Augustana Academy. In their junior year, the class officers were: Theresa Howard, President; Katherine Houlihan, Vice-President; Janette Steichen, Secretary-Treasurer. Gordon Kappel was elected Secretary-Treasurer of the Student Body. Janet Gutzmer discontinued school at the end of this year and Darlene Wells transferred to Huron High School. Senior enrollment was twenty-one this year. Jim Forbes and Theresa Howard were chosen King and Queen to reign over W. H. S. Ki Yi Day. Class officers were: President, Jim Forbes; Vice-Presi- dent, Jim McCoy; and Secretary-Treasurer, Lois Druse.

Juniors On August 31» 1953» twenty-three Juniors took their place in the assembly. Class officers were Mary Lou Emerson, president; Delvin Feistner, vice-president; and Margy Brewster, secretary-treasure. Ronnie Marsh was elected vice-president and Mary Allen Paulson, secretary- treasurer of the student body. The class was able to raise the largest amount of money for the carnival, winning the honor of having their candidates, Tom Steichen and Margy Brewster, crowned king and queen. Juniors that participated in declam were Wanda Rumel- hart, William Schroeder, and Sharilyn Schlicht. Mary Lou Emerson acted as assistant-editor on the annual staff. Others working on the staff are Aubrey Fisher and Tom Steichen. Mary Allen Paulson was assistant- editor of the Hi-Life Staff. Tom Steichen and Aubrey Fisher also worked on the staff. The boys that lettered in football were Ronnie Marsh, Aubrey Fisher, Richard Parsons, Hubert Scott, and Ronald Goeman. Ronnie Marsh, Richard Parsons, Ronald Goeman, and Aubrey Fisher also lettered in basketball. 12
