bogs’ basketball The boys' basketball team once again gained a play-off berth by finishing fourth in Class A-l with a record 7-11. Junior All-Stater Derrick Scurry led the team along with senior captain Allan Harmon. Seniors Mike Dwyer, Pat Dwyer, Rodney Byrd, Mike Cahill, Pat McGee, and Jeff Scurry also played important roles for the Novans. s’ tnimor track The Indoor Track team had its most successful season ever, finishing second in the state championships, losing only to Bishop Hendricken. The boys also went undefeated in the Northern division for the second straight year. Senior Scott Duarte earned first team All-State honors in the 600, as well as second team All-Class honors. The relay team of Duarte, and seniors Mike Dalomba, Mike Bannon, and Steve Boisvert, also earned first team All-State honors and set a new state record. Dalomba (600) and S. Boisvert (300) both earned second team All-State and first team All-Class honors, junior Dan Boisvert, who earned second team All-State honors in the 1000, was invited to the US Olympic National High School 1000 Championships in New Jersey, where he finished fifth. girls’ basketball The girls' basketball team had a good season finishing third in the Class A Northern Division. Qualifying for the playoffs, the girls defeated South Kingstown in the preliminaries to advance to the quarterfinals where they were ousted by Bay View. Highlights of the season included winning the consolation bracket of the Coaches Christmas Tournament and defeating Cumberland in double overtime at Cumberland. Also, senior tri-captain Lynn Turgeon and junior Sharon Morrisseau received first team All-Division Honors.
