Although we've done the homework and taken the tests, there is more to be said of our success than simply our presence in school and our natural abilities. Without a doubt, this dedication is more all encompassing. Throughout the years, our class has been shaped and reshaped by people such as teachers, counselors, and parents, whose time and patience, although unending, appears to go unnoticed time after time. The Yearbook Staff urges that all who have made the slightest contribution to the success of the Class of '84, accept this as their dedication, because these people are truly the dedicated ones. Students, parents, faculty, administration and counselors, take pride in the success of '84, a reflection of your, and our, never ending time and effort. 4 . . . tf|e class of 1984! 5 sncxerAfockeg cljeerleafrers Kneeling: Ann Fasano, loanne Kuc-zer, Renee Desjardins, Lisa Plante. Thom Collins, Michelle Mariani Head Photographers Marisa Notarantonic Photographer 52 qmfrer eiuiors autuitmfest The city of Woonsocket is becoming renowned for its annual Autumnfest celebration. This is by far one of the biggest events of the fall season. Woonsocket High School students can always be found on the grounds of Social Park Autmnfest weekend whether they are merely meeting friends, working in the various booths, or participating in sports competitions. By joining in the festivities of Autumnfest students become involved in, and contribute greatly to the spirit of, the city of Woonsocket. spirit faerk Many activities were held throughout Spirit Week, which included a Freshmen Button Day and a lunior Day on which helium-filled balloons were sold. On Senior Day boys were asked to dress as girls and vice versa. This day was by far the most hilarious. Friday was Maroon and White Day and a pep rally was held that afternoon. 56 The student body was at its rowdiest at the Spirit Week pep rally. This was obviously a contributing factor to the football team’s victory on Homecoming Day. Spirit Week concluded with a Victory Dance that Saturday night, by far one of the best dances held all year. 57 senior class The senior Christmas Party was held on December 17th, 1983. This year the senior class tried a new approach to their Christmas Party: they had a buffet and dance in the high school cafeteria. Mr. and Mrs. Whipple appeared as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus and passed out all the gifts. Girls brought gifts for girls and guys brought gifts for guys. Music was once again provided by the funky Algebra teacher, David Labrie. Spirits were high and we all had plenty of fun. The Senior Christmas Party was truly a festive and wonderful night. 58 Sofie E. Morin PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE The class of 1984 has the distinction of graduating from one of the effective senior high schools in the state of Rhode Island. This honor reflects your commitment to personal and communal growth as people of learning who will give back to your community the benefits of your experience. Be proud of this honor, earned by you, your teachers, and parents through the combined efforts and dedication to excellence of all. My very best wishes to each of you. 146 aimtmtsiraitott Timothy Connors Superintendent of Schools Robert C. Mulcahv Assistant Principal Stanley E. Wynne Administrative Assistant SCHOOL COMMITTEE: Sitting: Susan Menard, Robert Kulik, |une Gamache (secretary). Standing: Douglas T, Brown, Larry Dowdy, Timothy Conners (Superintendent!, Christine Chiacu-Forsythe, Leo Savoie (Assistant Superintendent). 147 secretaries The secretaries of Woonsocket High School are always in the office and seem to be doing a hundred things at the same time. They sign us in when we come in late, type our names on the absentee sheet when we don't come in at all, and give us messages when we get called to the office. The routine jobs they perform, such as filing and typing, help the school run smoothly. The work of these women is greatly appreciated. Claudette Chicoine Susan Curran Sandra Graham Fernande Robidoux Georgette Saillant 148 special services Anna DeNevers Metro Kwasnicki Mary Monsour Dr. Edward Nolan The Special Services staff consists of four very special people who devote their time to helping our school function smoothly. Mrs. DeNevers and Dr. Nolan advise students with personal problems. Mrs. Monsour, that nurse bursting with energy, is always there to aid students when they become ill. And who can be absent for more than a week without hearing from Mr. Kwasnicki? The work of these four people is very much appreciated. 149 gutbartce V, Armand Bessette The work done by those individuals who make up the Guidance Department is extremely important to students. They assist students with schedules, answer questions concerning PSAT's and SAT's, and help students choose a college and a career. Guidance counselors are there to advise students on some of the most important decisions they will ever make. Thanks to these people the student's school life is made a little easier. Edward Connoly 150 Stephen Thornton 151 ertglislj If any class affects our everyday lives it is English Class. It has always been important to be able to express one's self well, and correctly. Courses offered by the English Department include Junior Seminar, Senior Seminar, Humanities, Advanced Placement English, and Drama. The dedicated teachers of this department also prepare students for the PSAT's and SAT's. Each year members of the drama class perform spectacular productions of plays such as Camelot , and The Sound of Music . This is why the Woonsocket High School Math Department is so important. A wide range of classes if offered including Algebra, Calculus, Computer Programming, and Geometry. Mathematics forces our minds to think, and therefore expands our knowledge. But the time has come and gone. We made it to this point with the help of our parents, friends, and teachers. We snared with friends the good times and the bad, the pains and the glories. Throughout the years we grew into what we are today. The classes we took, the crises we faced, all helped us prepare for the years ahead. For some of us, this is the end of our schooling, for others it is not. Some will join the armed forces, get full-time jobs, or continue their education. But wherever the road leads us, we will hope to find happiness and success in everything we do.
