THEME The Fine Arts Since the appreciation of Fine Arts serves as a necessary supplement to our academic studies, we have chosen this as the theme of our Quiver. It seems fitting that we should choose this field because in high school we begin to recognize and appreciate the culture that has been handed down to us. As technical skills increase dexterity, and sciences train the mind to logical thinking, so do Fine Arts enrich our hearts and souls. On the following pages we have attempted to portray aspects of the Fine Arts which are symbolic of our high school life. Fine Arts may be defined as anything concerned with the creation of things of beauty — music, literature, sculpture, and architecture. Certainly our orchestra, dance band, and choral group give us, besides entertainment, an insight into the realm of music. Literary classes bring us in contact with the works of great authors of the past and the present and inspire young authors of the future. Aren’t the Villa Novan and library paper examples of classroom training in practice? Interposed with the text are illustrations made by our art students, graphic examples of student painting and drawing. As we go out into the world, Fine Arts serve as the key to the door from the materialistic world to the wondrous world of culture. No matter how varied our future occupations may be, if we all think of the theme of our Quiver as a reminder of all we have learned in high school, we will have a common bond of memories that will never separate us in spirit. 5
