Assistant Principal Maybe itjs because he studied to he a doctor that he has SO much thatientsiy with us here at Woodward. Our assistant principal, Edwin Sutton: was so embarked Auntil, working on a recreation commission to pay his course, he discovered young people more interesting. He then switched from pre-med at the University of Cincin- nati to teaching. A Wise choice, as shown by his fine Work in this Held. Counsellors If your program has a kink, your goal an eclipse, 01' your future a question; your guid- ance is in proper and understanding hands. Margaret Hall counsels the seventh and eighth grades John McConnell helps the ninth and eleventh graders solve their over- whehning problems: and Zerita Schwartz does a terrific job aiding the tenth and twelfth graders.

The School Principal The theme of this year's annual is most appropriate. It suggests that you who are leaving Woodward through graduation, take stock of the months since you entered this institution, and thoughtfully project your hopes and plans for the future. In Such a situation one usually thinks of his plans and aspirations for the years to come. However, as one pon- ders material accomplishment and gains he becomes aware of great underlying intangibles on which all else restsefamily aHection, friendships. fair play. loyalty to self and others. and all the ideals and vaules that di- rect and govern our Way of life. It is only within the frame of these ultimate values that our material achieve- ments become possibel and significant. What are these values, those Woodward iltreasuresyv that have been passed on each graduating class since the founding of the school? May each of you leaving us in June have a complete understanding: that the supreme importance of the individual is the basic moral and spiritual value of American life that each of us must be responsible for the consequences of our own acts that freedom and privilege is purchased at the mst of responsibility that excellence in mind, character and creative ability must be pursued that habits of work and study bring far greater reWards than material success that such qualities as service, loyalty. friendliness, appreciation and gratitude, sympathy and kind heart- edness, and the ability to face problems with courage and imagination are of as great importance to- day as they were in 1831 when William Woodward founded this great institution. This message is accompanied with the prayer that each member of the class of 1955 will experience every success and happiness in the years to come. We of Woodward will follow your careers with interest aml pride.
