As the school year draws to a close and we prepare to leave Woodward, we, the class of nineteen hundred and torlyitive, wish to make use of our Annual to extend to our principal, Dr. Leon D. Peastee, our sincerest ttlantcs For his inspired guidance of our Class through its years at Woodward High School. His appreciation of the many problems which we have heat to face this year has been a source of inspiration to us. The uncertainties 0f the times have often planted doubts and distress in our mincts, but he has seen us over the roughnesses which beset our path. We are gratetut for his wise counsel ant! sympathetic understanding. VVe admire Dr. Peaslee for ?his tirm belief in thorough scholarship, for his untiring efforts to instill in the pupils under his leadership the ideals of gooct citizenship. and for the manner in which 1'18 has striven to keep alive the spirit of true democracy so in keeping with the Woodward Spirit. To the Class of 1943 I extend congratulations upon the completion of an important job well clone. Under the most trying circumstances you have met the challenge of a national crisis; you have held high the torch of CClucation; you have served your country well. Some, clue to the urgent call For special training in camps, hospitals, and colleges, have accelerated to complete the requirements for graduation, have been awarded diplomas, and are already in the service or their country. Others who will graduate this June have also completed their school work. answered the can, and are now with tine armed forces. They will receive their diplomas in absentia. Still others, in answering the can to duty, gave up their school work for the time being. but are carrying on their studies in tile Armed Forces Institute. They will be awarcied their diplomas as soon as this work is completed. Meanwhile tine great rank and file or the class. recognizing the appeal of the government to complete its education in orcier to be of greatest assistance in winning the peace as well as the war, has stuck to its books and remained in school. These pupils. too, have loyalty served in the emergency. Again. to the Class or 1945. I say congratulations.
