One hundred and thirteen years ago, Woodward High School was founded by William Wood- warct. tn the glorious history 0t this tine old school. the years have brought tour distinct physical changes. The original building was built of brick. two stories high with two rooms on each Hoor. very plain and unpretentious without any particular architectural design. It was surmounted by a hettry which containect the belt, now one of our priceless trEasures From the past. In the summer at lS-tl, a third Hoar was added to the huitcting, and, for the tirst time in its history. girls were admitted to the school. For fourteen years, this building served the youth of the community. a symhot 0t edur cationat pioneering in the realm 0t tree education. In 1855, a greater structure was huitt. purely Gothic in design, three stories in height. For more than titty years, this buitcting stood as the representation of high ideals 0t lite. of loyalty to home and nation, of strong minds and great names, of concentrated teachings and high standards of scholarship The progress of time placed new demands on Woodward High School anct made imperative the building of a larger building. 'In IQIO, the present building was erected, glorified by the sacred tradition of the VVomiwards of the past. We. the graduating class of nineteen hundrett anct forty- tour, tmow and love this Woodward 0t today. One important change was made during our years here y Woodward's beautiful iron tence was donated to the war effort. We mourned its passing, trnut it was a necessary sacrifice. We hail the Woodward of today. May it carry on gloriously in the uturet Page Five
