Once again, Seniors 0F Woodward High School, do I turn another leaf, by no means the last. in my book of greetings to you. On it I read with pride the fine record of the four year cycle or your student life. You are now ready to enter a bigger schooI-the School of Life In that school, whether you serve your com- munity in domestic, industrial, or business capacity, or whether you serve your country now at war. may you always carry with you the memory of the ideals of William Woodward. the founder of your schooI-ahis sympathy: his tolerance; his love of study anti of work; his interest in humanity: and his unselfish service. Nineteen hundred and forty-tour marks the fourth year of the principatship of Dr. Leon D. Peaslee at VVoodward High School. This means that this year's Class is the first to have spent the complete four years of its high school course under his inspiring guidance. We were indeed fortunate in this respect. We recognize that his effective leadership has been most vital in our preparation for life. Our ciass and Dr. Peastee came to Woodward together. Now we must leave our beloved atma mater. but Dr, Peaslee will remain to guide Future classes as they prepare to take their places in the world. In these history-making times, the principal of a large high school is faced with grave responsibilities. Dr, Peaslee has accepteci the challenge with courage and has led Woodward in its mighty effort to give its best in war-time education. He has given unsparingly of his time and energy. and his achievements will long be remembered. We, the class of nineteen hundred and forty-four, salute Dr. Peastee for his sincere interest in our activities, our accomplishments. anti our problems. We are grateful For his wise counsel and his genuine understanding. We leave Vt'voodwarcl High School to take our place in the world. Our farewell wish is For the future success of our school and our principal.
